Master's Infinite Love
Spreads To Peru

Practitioners of the Quan Yin Method cherish every opportunity to serve the public and thereby improve themselves and excel in spiritual practice. When initiates were invited to share Supreme Master Ching Hai's infinite love in neighboring Peru, they were joyful and grateful. It was with the help from the generous Brazilian initiates that the trip was possible.

As preparations got underway, torrential downpours in Chile disrupted traffic and caused bridges to collapse. Departure was delayed for the working crew who were stranded for a few days at the Chilean Center waiting for the roads to be restored. Remembering Master's valuable teaching that they must always think positively under any circumstances, Chilean initiates decided to meditate and pray that their situation would be resolved as soon as possible.

The initiates canceled their bus reservations and flew to the Arica Airport at the Peruvian border, planning to travel inland by taxi. However, what happened was, a man who had waited at the Arica Airport in vain the whole morning to pick up an Argentine delegation offered to transport the group of initiates and their luggage to their destination in his spacious private bus. Although their luggage was overweight with large volumes of promotional materials and books, they cleared the customs quickly and without any trouble. Everything was wonderfully taken care of. Happily and with hearts filled with gratitude, the initiates arrived on time to meet another fellow practitioner at a prearranged location.

In Arequipa

The work in Peru commenced in the city of Arequipa. The initiates had no preset plans on how to disseminate Master's teachings during their short stay in the city. However, they were able to make use of these few days to quickly arrange a seminar. They selected a convenient site at a very elegant hotel with a big conference hall and complete sets of audio and video equipment. The seminar was announced on a number of radio stations, and many introductory leaflets were distributed. Posters displaying Master's photo and the place and date of the event were posted during the night.

On the day of the seminar, a Tai-Chi instructor eagerly invited initiates to his center and expressed his happiness at the opportunity to learn about Supreme Master Ching Hai's teachings. He stated that he had practiced Tai-Chi martial arts with a Chinese master for many years, and his master told him to find a completely enlightened Master who could teach him to transcend himself. The initiates could well understand just how overwhelmingly happy he was when he saw Master's photo and the announcement of the seminar in his hometown.

Large numbers of people attended the seminar, many of whom had practiced spiritually before. The seminar proceeded smoothly and quite a number of people have since been initiated into the Quan Yin Method and the Convenient Method of meditation. These new initiates have immediately set up a local center where people can meditate and are planning to find a bigger site for group meditation.

In Cusco

The TV news program in Cusco, Peru introduced Supreme Master Ching Hai and the Quan Yin Method.

The initiates embarked on the second leg of their journey and set out for Cusco. Seminars on Master's teachings had been held in this city some time earlier. Fellow initiates again filed an application to hold a seminar in the city hall and also received permission to distribute leaflets and put up posters. News of the event was announced on radio to give Cusco citizens a chance to become acquainted with Supreme Master Ching Hai and the Quan Yin Method of meditation. Initiates also accepted TV interviews on two local stations.

In order to acquire a projector and video camera lenses, initiates stopped by at an electronics store hoping to rent the equipment. The store manager greeted them warmly and accepted a copy of The Key of Immediate Enlightenment sample booklet and a copy of the Suma News magazine. The initiates explained their needs but before they had finished, the manager surprised them with this response, "Which day, at what time, and how many do you need? You can borrow whatever you need free of charge."

The manager had been leafing through the magazines and did not seem to be listening to them. Yet before they had made their full request, they had obtained the equipment they were looking for. They could not but thank Master for Her infinite blessings to let them experience yet again that they are no more than helpers in God's mission. As long as we have Master to lead and guide us, everything will go smoothly.
The seminar attracted more attendees than the venue could accommodate. Some had to stand outside in the corridor, and some had to watch the seminar on TV from afar. The seminar took longer than scheduled and was followed by a question-and-answer session at the local Center the next day. A number of people applied to practice the Convenient Method. The working group of initiates were most touched because they could feel Master's great love at all times.

In Lima

The seminar in Lima deeply touched the hearts of the audience.

The initiates then proceeded to the Peruvian capital of Lima. In Lima, arrangements for a seminar had been taken care of by fellow initiates and would-be initiates who were already practicing the Convenient Method. The seminar was to be held at the Continental Bank of Peru in its completely furnished auditorium. Although this venue had never been leased to any organization before, the bank offered it to the initiates free of charge.

Fellow initiates went on the air on two radio stations and a large numbers of leaflets were distributed in this large city. A videotape of Master singing was played before the seminar began and the early arrivals watched and listened to Her heart-moving songs attentively. The seminar commenced with initiates sharing their experiences of learning about Supreme Master Ching Hai. When they spoke of how Quan Yin practitioners are one with Supreme Master Ching Hai at every moment of the day, they were so overwhelmed by emotions that they broke down in tears. The vast majority of people who attended the seminar applied for initiation into the Quan Yin Method or the Convenient Method of meditation.

In Puno

The seminar in Puno was held at a newly renovated theater that was very big and comfortable. Like on the previous occasions, it was filled to capacity. Everything went smoothly. Many attendees were vegetarians and wanted to learn about Master's teachings. They realized that Supreme Master Ching Hai was the Master that they had been waiting for, and were all very anxious to receive initiation. One person spontaneously offered a place where they could set up a meditation center. How happy the fellow initiates were to see gratitude light up the faces of all the people who attended the seminars! Certainly that was a very valuable lesson that Master bestowed on them.
When the Puno seminar drew to a close, fellow initiates planned a small retreat near Lake Titicaca, at a quiet village as yet unexploited by tourists. During their trip to the village of Tacasaya, the initiates shared candy with the children and other adults who were traveling with them on the boat.

A sudden decision to take a boat to the Tacasaya Village brought the initiates into contact with people who were interested in Master and Her teachings.

The fellow practitioners introduced themselves to the local authorities and requested permission to pitch their tents. Many children followed them happily everywhere they went.

One brother initiate met two teachers at the local village school who told him that they were unable to attend the seminar in Puno because there wasn't a ferry to carry them across the lake that day. So the initiates offered to present Master's teachings especially for the teachers and students of the local school. Some requested to learn the Convenient Method, and continue to be in contact with the Arequipa and Lima initiates.

Most Tacasaya residents are not well-off and the school children evidently needed skin care cream because of their longtime exposure to both the sun's heat on the plateau and to cold fronts. They were not clothed warmly enough and went about barefooted. Touched by this scene, the initiates conveyed to them Master's love by contributing US$500 to the elementary school.

In Tacna

The last seminar was in the city of Tacna, which lies on the border very close to Chile. As always, it attracted many interested people. However, the Chilean initiates found that their visas were about to expire and had to travel quickly back to Arica to have them renewed so that they could participate in the Tacna seminar. Both Peruvian and Chilean customs officials recognized Supreme Master Ching Hai's disciples from whom they had received many sample booklets when the initiates first entered Peru from Chile. The government officials greeted the initiates with a smile and extended their visa duration to enable them to hold the seminar in Tacna.

The seminar featured an introduction about the life of Supreme Master Ching Hai and the Quan Yin Method, as well as a videotaped discourse presented by Her in Costa Rica. The attendants listened to the teachings with utmost concentration and had almost no questions. One person expressed his gratitude for this valuable occasion because he had missed the previous two seminars in Lima. He also thanked Master for the Suma News magazines that he receives regularly. After the seminar many people requested to learn the Convenient Method of meditation and some, who were already vegetarians for a long time, asked for initiation. They are looking forward to sharing their joy of spiritual practice with fellow initiates in Peru and the rest of the world.

All the initiates are hoping to share Master's teachings with everyone as quickly as possible. As a new initiate from Arequipa said, "I had waited such a long time that half my hair is white now. Please don't make other people wait for so long!"

A sudden decision to take a boat to the Tacasaya Village brought the initiates into contact with people who were interested in Master and Her teachings.
