Hola! A Call From Guatemala

During the last few years, fellow practitioners have proposed many times that we come to Guatemala to help spread the message of Master's teachings. However, these requests have remained no more than suggestions for a number of reasons. This time, however, when the Quan Yin messenger was in Honduras, she did think of going to Guatemala, but did not know when we should go and where to start. One day while in meditation, she received a very powerful message from within: "The fellow practitioners in Honduras are going to have some holidays; we had better go quickly to Guatemala." We packed some simple luggage and a few boxes of published materials, and of course, fully loaded with Master's love and blessings, we found ourselves in Guatemala after an exhausting journey.

The climate in Guatemala is soothingly cool. The country yields a wide variety of agricultural produce, including assorted fruits, vegetables and pulses. Vegetarian food is easily available, and as advocated by many doctors and spiritual groups, some people have gradually taken up the vegetarian diet.

A Honduran Convenient Method practitioner introduced us to our first Guatemalan friend, who received us cordially after learning about the message we had to convey. He also invited his friends and relatives to watch Master's videotapes. His mother was an open-minded Catholic with a great sense of humor. When watching the tapes, she kept praising Master's teachings for being so explicit, yet simple.

We then began to look for a suitable venue to hold a videotape seminar to deliver Master's message to the Guatemalan people. We paid a visit to a yoga group called Gan Fraternidad Universal Linea Solar. Most of its members are vegetarians and always ready to welcome other spiritual groups. It was at their center that our first seminar in Guatemala was held.

Our initial contact was with their counselor, Sr. Vigilio Sanchez. He extended to us his full support after learning that the aim of Master's teachings is to elevate the spirituality of sentient beings, and that we also advocate vegetarianism. He adjusted his schedule so that we could use his center for the video seminar, and invited all members of his group to the event. Sr. Sanchez also advised us about how to start the propagating work, and accompanied us to the Prensa Libre, where he requested this largest daily newspaper in Guatemala to provide news coverage of our seminar. On the day before the seminar, the Prensa Libre ran a color photo of Supreme Master Ching Hai and a news report of the upcoming event in its social news section. Sr. Sanchez, a vegetarian for years, became a fellow initiate shortly afterward. Several members of his group have applied for the Convenient Method of meditation, and are observing a vegetarian diet while awaiting initiation.

On the day of the seminar, large crowds of sincere Truth-aspirants packed the venue and many were left without seats. The event turned out to be a success; many people showed immense interest in this Method of meditating on the inner light and sound. One elderly person even told us that Master's teachings are so wonderful that one seminar is not enough; we should hold more.

After the seminar, people drawn to Master's teachings stopped by to tell us stories about their pursuit of the Truth and their aspirations. "We have been waiting for a very long time!" proclaimed one sincere couple. From their stories, we realized why this trip had been taken so hastily, and why everything had gone so smoothly. Obviously God had heard the sincere calls of His children.

★As The Truth Spreads

A pastor who had attended the seminar was so impressed by Master's teachings that he began practicing the Convenient Method and became a vegetarian. Feeling that he was getting better in every way, he began to introduce the benefits of a vegetarian diet to his congregation.

Although one retired, elderly lady was not in very good health, out of love and compassion, she often spent her spare time visiting hospitalized patients who had no family to take care of them. She said that Master's teachings gave her stronger power and faith, and now she often takes along the Suma News magazines and sample booklets to distribute to friends and patients in the hospital.

Another man who was practicing the Convenient Method detected a fragrance and saw the manifestation form of Master dressed in white, showering cool and fresh nectar water on him. At first, he was shocked because he thought it was raining. He also told us of a dream he had had more than ten years ago, in which a woman led him up a mountain, and at the summit he saw a very bright sun. After learning about Master, he knew She was the woman he had seen in his dream.

Several days before the seminar, a greatly troubled gentleman prayed sincerely to God for a solution to his problems. As he flipped through the newspaper, he saw Master's photo and the announcement about the seminar. He immediately knew that this was God's answer to him. After watching the videotapes at the venue, he was convinced that he had found the solution. He started a vegetarian diet after returning home. Just several days later, he was amazed by the changes in his pet rabbit, which used to hide from him whenever he looked at it. But after he became a vegetarian, it began to come close to him on its own initiative. His dog even started playing with the rabbit. He felt that the changes in these animals were very amusing. In his practice of the Convenient Method, he has enjoyed many good experiences and his life has changed. Feeling that God's power is taking care of and guiding him, he is very anxious to get initiation soon.

One elderly gentleman, profoundly interested in spirituality, had previously practiced with a number of spiritual groups. After he studied Master's teachings, he just could not stop praising Her lectures that he read in the Supreme Master Ching Hai publications. However, he was caught in an internal struggle between his decades-old meat-eating habit that he could not quit in just a few days and his desire to practice the Quan Yin Method. It happened to be mealtime one day when he visited us, so we offered him an easily prepared vegetarian sandwich. After eating it, he realized that eating vegetarian is very simple, cheap, and delicious; hence, he became a vegetarian.

He noted that after taking up the vegetarian diet, he could walk with a lighter gait and climb stairs with less effort. In the sample booklet, he read the examples that Master cited from the Bible about prohibiting the taking of life. With deep feelings he sighed and said that it is a pity he had never learned about this earlier, although he had often gone to church. Therefore, he cherishes Master's teachings even more, and is sincerely waiting for initiation.

A psychologist working for a radio station, born with the ability to predict the future, could also read people's past lives. She often discussed the concepts of hygiene and the vegetarian diet in both the news and broadcasting media, and believed that the food we eat is closely related to our inner tranquility. She felt herself drawn by an overwhelming feeling when she heard about the seminar, so she went to the venue.

After watching Master's videotaped lectures, she felt enfolded by Master's pure and strong vibrations for several days. She saw Master in a dream that night, and discovered their past-life relationship when Master was a Korean.

One evening when she returned home, she smelled a fragrant aroma, so she started to read the Suma News magazines despite her fatigue. That night she dreamed of Master telling her on the phone, "I have come to help the humble people." She interpreted this to mean that only when we are humble can we attune ourselves to Master's vibrations and become one with Her.

These experiences strengthened her faith in Master's power, and she began to introduce Master's teachings to people who were interested.

To teach the beginners more about vegetarian cooking, we held a vegetarian feast to which all the Convenient Method practitioners and their families and friends were invited. Everything went smoothly. The food was prepared with the cooperation of future initiates who had just registered for initiation. Everyone who attended the Convenient Method meditation session that day had good experiences. After the meal, a professional harmonica musician played a few beautiful tunes and won thunderous applause from everyone present.

A few days before our departure, there was widespread rainfall in the area. People were surprised because it was not the rainy season, but we knew it was Master's love awakening the souls thirsty for liberation. Let us wholeheartedly wish that these spiritual seeds will soon sprout and yield beautiful fruit.
