Lady
Suam has been living in Thlok Tasek Village for more than ten years. At the
age of twenty-seven, with six children, she is pregnant once again. Her family
earn their living by chopping and selling trees. Lady Suam happily expresses
that ever since we, the Quan-Yin family, came here to stay and became their
neighbors, the land has revived and flourished, despite severe past destruction
from fires. She has observed that the climate has changed: Originally, the weather
here was dry, but now it rains and rains. She joyfully exclaimed, "Now, the
weather is cool and rainfall is abundant. This condition is very suitable for
planting rice! She thought this change was all due to Master's sincere prayers
for them.
Master has lovingly visited
them, sweetly handing out candies and cookies galore. She even looked at her
cows; that made her very happy. Although they cannot communicate with each other
because of the language difference, Lady Suam deeply felt Master's sincere care,
regarding Her as one with a compassionate heart. She is grateful to Master for
praying for them and for making their life more and more happy each day. She
hopes that she can see Master often.
Now, she and her husband visit
the Compassionate Heart Temple to worship the Buddha every night. Before, there
were no temples in this neighborhood. The nearest temple was very far away,
and they were only able to worship the Buddha once every month or two. She thanks
Master for Her thoughtfulness, and for understanding their spiritual as well
as physical needs.
Due to our group's development
project here, their lives have changed a lot. Now, not only do they conveniently
have access to clean water, they eat vegetarian meals shared by and with us.
She has completely accepted the vegetarian diet. Happier still, she's glad that
her children will be able to attend school as soon as the building construction
in Raising Center is finished. She says, "Ever since Master came here, my life
has become more and more joyful!
When asked whether there was
anything in our ability that we, in all humility, could do to help, she just
smiled and shyly said, "I hope Master can pray for us and make us happy."
