Report
from Brazil
Setting
off fireworks and lighting colorful lanterns began the New Year's
celebration and a brand-new future in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Whereas a
festive mood prevailed everywhere, fellow initiates did not forget
the poor and needy, including the homeless. Since most of the local
stores and restaurants were closed during the holiday season, fellow
initiates chose New Year's Day to distribute food to the homeless
who lived under bridges and on the streets.
Sao Paulo is a huge
city, and the amount of food distributed on New Year's Day of 1999
was almost twice as much as that of previous distribution efforts.
Visiting an Orphanage
In February, fellow
practitioners from Brazil carried Master's love to a small orphanage,
also bringing with them a monetary contribution for the orphans. In
the beginning, the children were shy, but their shyness soon melted
in the warm love of the initiates. Some held onto the initiates' shoulders
for a prolonged time, not wanting to let go. Such a scene made us
sad as we realized how desperately these orphans are in need of love.
May Master's love bless each of these souls!
