Report From The Solomon Islands
Sowing The Spiritual Seeds

<Honiara> When a Quan Yin messenger went to the Solomon Islands, she went to some places to distribute the sample booklets. Most people on the Solomon Islands are Christians, and they have no idea about meditation. However, Master's bright photo on the sample booklets attracted much attention and was warmly received. The sample booklets that were placed in bookstores were all taken in a very short time.

She also found that the local people there had no idea about vegetarian food. They could only imagine the food that she described to them without getting any real feeling for it. Therefore, one local person suggested that if she were willing to cook vegetarian food for the people with whom she lived, they would follow a vegetarian diet for one week.

So the Quan Yin messenger exerted a great deal of effort and cooked pure vegetarian food with the available local ingredients. The good taste of each meal made vegetarian food known even among the people in the nearby islands. Meanwhile, all these people received Master's sample booklet or News magazines. They talked about Master and began to realize the benefits of a vegetarian diet.

A fisherman, who was among them, surprisingly asked the Quan Yin messenger, "Are all vegetarians as strong and healthy as you are? Are you practicing Chinese Kung Fu? Why don't you get tired walking on the mountain roads?" Hearing that the Quan Yin messenger was practicing "meditative Kung Fu," many people showed interest in meditation. Even the fisherman requested to learn the Convenient Method.

Several customs staff members who worked on another island invited the Quan Yin messenger to their island. They were also willing to give up their main hobbies -- smoking and chewing betel nut -- as well as to eat fewer eggs.

After a week, an amicable friendship was established between the Quan Yin messenger and the locals. Master's love and light shone on everyone. Despite their varying ages, they all were immersed in Master's ocean of love. They talked and laughed, and though they were of different nationalities and spoke different languages, there were no barriers at all between them. This shows that the power of God is truly inconceivable! Besides, everyone was glad to know that the local vegetables could be cooked in other ways than what they were accustomed to. They said that they would like to try to cook the vegetables themselves, when they went back on their own islands. This change was not easy because they traditionally eat fish, meat and eggs.
