On February 22, 2003, following the conclusion
of the Taipei International Book Exhibition, a nine-day international
book fair opened in Kaohsiung, providing residents of southern Formosa
with an uplifting cultural and spiritual feast. The fair's inaugural
ceremony began with Mayor Frank Hsieh reading the following prayer written
by a fellow initiate: "Let knowledge enrich our lives, let wisdom
purify our hearts, let us walk on the path of love and let us pray for
world peace together." Then the event officially commenced with
the release of peace doves and helium-filled balloons bearing the title
of Master's new book God's Direct Contact - The Way to Reach Peace.
In
order to help residents of southern Formosa experience the book's essence,
the Supreme Master Ching Hai publishing house held an introductory seminar
during the fair. Among those invited to share their insights about the
text were Mr. Cai Zhizhong, an associate professor at National Chung
Cheng University; Professor Xiong Binbin from the Department of Translation,
Chang Jung Christian University; Dr. Cheng Huaxing, a physician at the
Kaohsiung Medical College; poet Moeyai; and Mr Lai Tianman, senior civil
engineer at the Chinese Petroleum Corporation.
Also
during the book exhibition, a large outdoor informational seminar entitled
"Love and Peaceful Mind Coffee Hour" was held. As the fragrant
aroma of coffee filled the air, participants listened to a live performance
of Heavenly music while video documentaries guided them through a history
of Supreme Master Ching Hai's worldwide peace efforts. Poet Moeyai,
musician Xie Rongyi, and environmental protection expert Lin Rouxi were
invited to Master's booth to interact and communicate face-to-face with
attendees, forming a heartwarming scene.
After
the seminar, over 200 guests learned the Convenient Method, while several
requested initiation into the Quan Yin Method, filling the working staff
with incomparable bliss and comfort at this manifestation of Master's
blessing. Through events such as the book fair, spiritual seeds are
being sown farther and wider than ever before, and will hopefully sprout,
grow and bear fruit in the near future.
