1 medium size apple
45 g (1.6 oz, 2/5 cup) unsalted butter
88 g (3 oz, 2/5 cup) vegetable oil
175 g (6.2 oz, 1 1/5 cups) brown sugar
325 g (11.5 oz, 2 2/3 cups) cake flour
1 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp clove powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
1/8 tsp nutmeg powder
237 g (8.4 oz, 1 cup) fresh milk
a pinch of granulated almonds

(1) Peel and core the apple into 8 sections; then cut into thin slices.
(2) Melt unsalted butter. Mix with vegetable oil and brown sugar.
(3) Sift together flour, baking powder, clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg powders. Add to butter mixture and blend with a wire whisk. Add milk and stir well.
(4) Fold in apple slices with a rubber spatula. Pour into a greased cake pan. Smooth the surface and sprinkle with granulated almonds. Bake at 190 ° C (375 ° F ) for about 30 minutes. (If using a traditional oven, bake at 160 ° C (320 ° F ) for about 30-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.)
Note: Because fruit contains water, you may find the texture around the apple slices moist when slicing the ready-to-serve cake, but this won't take away from the taste of the cake.
