In the 1977 film Oh, God! Jerry Landers (John Denver) is an honest, hard working supermarket manager chosen by God to spread Hiers message. The message God wants all Hiers children to hear is that there¡Šs still hope for the world and that they should remember Hirm, believe in themselves and be more loving toward each other. This idea has been communicated to humankind since the beginning of time through countless unlikely messengers such as Jerry.

God attempts several times to convince Jerry that Hes is really God and finally manifests Hirmself as an old man wearing glasses and casual clothes so that Jerry can communicate with Hirm and feel more at ease. As with all of God¡Šs messengers, Jerry must face and overcome several obstacles in order to fulfill his mission. He first approaches a newspaper journalist who thinks he is insane. His own family refuses to believe that God has spoken to him. He then goes on a television talk show where he is not taken seriously. He also tries speaking with the heads of various Christian churches, but they respond by giving him a test on religion with 50 questions written in ancient Aramaic! Finally, he is taken to court for standing up to a self-involved television evangelist. But Jerry¡Šs unyielding faith in God pulls him through all these tests and Hiers message is shared and believed by those who want to believe.

Oh, God! is a charming, funny and thoroughly enjoyable film. After watching it I felt immense sympathy for God because Hes is so loving and patient with us and so readily available yet most of us choose to ignore Hirm. Hes does not want us to hurt each other, but instead wants us to be loving and caring by remembering who we truly are. While watching this movie, I couldn¡Št help being reminded of Master and thinking, ¡§Master must go through so much to get God¡Šs message through to us! She¡Šs so loving, so compassionate and so patient.¡š This notion is beautifully and thoughtfully conveyed in Oh, God! a sweet, entertaining film with a profound message for everyone.
