  Ingredients Makes 10 steaks

180g vegetarian meat (after softened and water squeezed out)
80g dried mushroom stalks (after softened and water squeezed out) ( Pic.1)
600g textured soybean paste (Pic.2)
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon soy sauce

Directions

(1) Divide vegetarian meat into two portions, and blend each portion with ½ cup of water in an electric blender. Stop and stir after blending, every few seconds. Do not over blend. (Pic.3) The blended vegetarian meat should resemble thin slices with a chewable texture. Using a strainer, drain out the water and set aside.

 

(2) Place mushroom stalks into the blender and blend with ½ cup of water. Do not over blend. (Pic.4). Drain the water out.

 

(3) Combine shredded vegetarian meat and shredded mushroom stalk in a mixing bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix thoroughly. Divide the mixture into 10 even portions (or make into any size to your liking). Roll each portion into a ball and then press down into round shape. Place into a pan for steaming and modify the shape of each steak. You can press stripes on the surface using the back of a knife.

(4) Place the pan in a pot of boiling water and steam over boiling water for 7 minutes until cooked. The steaks can be served directly after steaming, or fry the steaks until golden and sprinkle with tomato sauce or barbecue sauce. The steaks can also sliced and stir-fried with vegetables.

Note: You can make a large portion at one time and store in freezer for future use.
