Watching
martial-arts movies with Master in Hsihu always left us both thrilled
and excited. Her well-intentioned and painstaking efforts always come
to mind whenever we encounter obstacles, frustrations, and setbacks
on the path of spiritual practice. The dangers and difficulties that
intimidate us on our quest for Truth are a much greater cause for
fear than those faced by martial arts heroes. They require stronger
willpower, greater integrity, and tremendous courage.
A brave man is always
a hero in the eyes of his enemies. He is ready to sacrifice his life
and will not surrender to his foes. The only difference here is that
the martial-arts hero defeats his enemies with physical strength,
while those following God on their way Home have to conquer their
own weaknesses. We must learn to give our love joyfully and selflessly,
and to endure difficult circumstances. Only then will we realize the
glorious meaning of the statement: "Overcoming obstacles makes a man
grow; challenges makes a nation strong." Only then will we experience
the joy of leaving the place of desires and entering into a realm
of infinite brilliance.
My friends, let us
drink from the cup of nectar and enjoy some blessed food. With an
open heart, let us joyfully walk the path that leads us Home. Let
us go forward hand in hand, following the pillars of light and the
stream of sound through the heavenly gate, sweeping aside all obstacles
in the way. Let us bask, carefree and happy, in Master Ching Hai's
realm of eternal life.
