A Trip To Hades

A
relative of mine was grieving for his mother who had suddenly passed
away. In 1996, he asked me to tell him where his mother was. I told
him I had no idea, but I could only ask Supreme Master Ching Hai. Master
replied that She could take me to visit his mother in hell, provided
I strictly observed the regulations there. I must not, out of sympathy,
help her with spiritual powers, because this would disrupt the law and
peace in hell. In my meditation, Master took me to that part of hell,
the depth of which was unfathomable.
There I saw many invisible
sentient beings confined in chambers with their hands and feet chained,
each holding five or six beings. The mother of my relative was alone
in one room and not chained. I was wondering why this was so when she
asked, "Who are you? Why are your bodies so bright? Where do you
come from?" I told her where we came from, and said, "Who
we are is not important to you. I come here today at the request of
your son who misses you very much and wants to know your situation.
I come to convey his message." Then I asked her to prove her identity.
She said that she had been buried with a silver watch and a jade ring.
Also, she wanted to tell her daughter that the shoes she sent were very
warm. (She once told her daughter in a dream that her feet were cold,
so her daughter sent her a pair of shoes by burning them.) The woman
continued to say, "Please tell my son to be diligent in his spiritual
practice and chant the Holy Names more often, because this will benefit
me. I mistreated this son in the past, but it is he who requested a
saint to visit me today. I was really wrong, but it is too late now!"
When I came back,
I verified with this relative the authenticity of his mother's words.
He acknowledged that they were perfectly true, and began to have faith
in Master. I believe that this experience is Master's warning to people
in the world that hell really exists! It will not cease to exist just
because we deny its existence. However, to spiritual practitioners,
hell does not exist.
