One
evening, while coming home from shopping, I noticed a little animal moving
in a dark street corner near my home. Out of curiosity, I went over to
investigate and found that it was an injured puppy. The little thing was
very dirty, and it couldn't stand because its rear legs had most probably
been run over by a car. Not knowing how to take care of it, I got a plastic
bag from a shop nearby, gently put the little dog inside, and placed it
in a safe corner out of the way of the traffic.
Next day when I passed by, the puppy was still there. It
crawled with great difficulty with its front limbs, dragging its rear
legs behind it. Perhaps it had not eaten for a long time, so it looked
very weak and pitiful. I quickly went home to prepare some food for it.
After feeding it for three days, I found that it was getting
physically stronger, except that it was still unable to walk properly.
Therefore, I took it home, bathed it, then took it to a well-known veterinary
clinic for medical treatment.
After examining the puppy, the vet told me that its rear
legs were severely broken beyond repair. He pointed at its rear legs and
showed me that they were indeed only broken bones wrapped in skin. He
said that the puppy was permanently crippled, and advised me to think
carefully before keeping it. Apart from feeding it, I would also have
to be constantly vigilant because of the animal's inability to control
its bowels and bladder. The vet said if I found it too troublesome he
would give it an injection to end its suffering.
Having fed the puppy for several days, I couldn't let it
die, so I decided to take it home and keep it. Only when I reached home
did I remember that I had to go aboard for the retreat. I went into the
living-room and whispered to Master's photo: "What should I do? There
will be no one to take care of this puppy."
When my husband (a fellow initiate) came home that afternoon,
he immediately said to me, "Hey! The puppy seems to be able to stand up!"
I said, "How is it possible? This morning, the veterinarian
stated that its condition was hopeless, and was considering putting the
puppy to sleep. How could it possibly stand up?" Hearing my words, my
husband was convinced that he was mistaken about what he had seen.
Early next morning, I took some food to the back garden for
the puppy, and I was stunned by what I saw! With great emotion, my hands
trembled so much that I almost dropped the bowl. Unbelievably, the puppy
was really standing up. It was wagging its tail and greeted me with its
twinkling eyes. With immense joy, I hugged and caressed it. Tears rolled
down my cheeks, and I knew it was all due to Master's boundless blessing
power.
When I took the puppy to the veterinary clinic for its immunization
inoculation, the vet was absolutely amazed to see the puppy able to stand
on its feet. He asked me which vet cured it. I said, "You are a veterinary
with a master degree, and you said that its condition was incurable. So,
how would I have the faith to go to another doctor. It was cured by my
all-compassionate Master." The bewildered vet could only cross his arms
and think hard over something that was too incredible for him to believe.
Of course, this is a fantastic incident for outsiders, but
to us fellow practitioners, it is not such an unusual thing. Most of us
have more or less experienced how Master's almighty loving power takes
care of us and the sentient beings that we care for, relieving us from
endless unfortunate circumstances.
