I have been seeking a richer, more spiritual life for a very long time. My life was in despair before I started the Convenient Method. My son, a disciple of Master, who lives in Hsihu Center, suggested to me to go to the Indiana Center and talk to people there. When I arrived at the center there were many pictures of Master and there was a warm welcoming feeling.
After talking about the Convenient Method, I was about to leave when they played the video that my son was on with Master: "There Can Be No Peace Until There Is Peace Within". As I watched his talk about his spiritual journey, the tears streamed down my cheeks and I knew right then that I was on my spiritual journey.
I was initiated in Illinois. That was a wonderful experience and I met many devoted disciples of Master who shared their spirituality with me.
I was very lucky to be able to go to the 7-day retreat at Hsihu Center in Formosa. I was praying very hard about whether I should go or not, because I had very little money. I chose to go, as the investment I made was for my spiritual life, afraid that I would have missed the many graces Master has blessed me with.
I could not begin to comprehend the power of thousands of people meditating all at once before coming to Hsihu. The next day I visited my son. We had tea in the Rainbow Garden. He played his guitar for me and the notes were so beautiful, like angels playing the harp.
During the remainder of the retreat, the foreigners were blessed by being able to meditate with Master and ask Her questions. Master was very patient with me when I asked Her a question about not being able to see the light. She kindly told me what to do and that night I saw the light for the first time.
That was the night before I was to leave to go back to the U.S.A. My son visited me late in the day, so we could only spend a little time together. We said good-bye and I went to watch a video of Master. The next thing I heard was my son saying, "Mom, Mom."
I turned around and said, "What are you doing here?"
He told me that as he was walking up the hill he had a vision that Master would be on the road and say: "What are you doing here"? Well, he went on a little further and true enough there She was in Her golf cart. He said at that time She was not looking his way and he tried to go quietly around Her when he heard Her say, "What are you doing here"? His vision was verified.
He told Master he was visiting his mother. Master told him to go back and spend more time with me and to stay for meditation. Master is just like a real mother, so children can't get away by sneaking by Her.
After the meditation was over, Master stopped in front of me and asked my son where his mother was. He said in front of You. I was so pleased to hear Her say that I looked like his sister and not his mother. She said we could sit up and talk as late as we wanted.
We sat down on some chairs under the stars and I thought I was so close to heaven. After a while, my son suggested we go and get some hot tea to dispel the cold.
On the way back to our seats, I stumbled and splashed the hot tea on his shirt, the right side of my face and in my right eye. I could hear him say, "Mom, Mom." I told him I was all right. I felt something cool go into my eye and on my face. The longer I sat there the more I knew that Master had let me experience a true miracle. I knew it was a miracle because the tea was so hot I wouldn't have been able to drink it for at least fifteen to twenty minutes.
My life will never be the same. I know that Master's love and protection will be with me
always.
As my son and I sat talking that night, I thanked him for choosing me to be his physical mother and for choosing Supreme Master Ching Hai to be his spiritual Mother. Now we have chosen the same spiritual Mother and regardless of how far the miles separate us, we are joined in spirit.
