Eco-Film Fest 2010
By Malaysia News Group (Originally in English)

[Kuala Lumpur] Held over the weekend of October 16 and 17, Golden Year 7 (2010), on the main campus of the University of Malaya, the Eco-Film Fest was organized by EcoKnights, an NGO with the objective of providing opportunities for people to learn about green initiatives and businesses, and to network with the eco-community. The colorful, entertaining festival drew a diverse crowd of some 3,000 university students, youths, academics, young working professionals, their families and friends. Through workshops, seminars and entertainment programs, fifty exhibitors displayed and sold eco-friendly products and services, in addition to exchanging ideas. Notable among them were the Malaysian Nature Society, the Malaysian Youth Climate Justice Network (MyCJN), and Wild Asia.

The Eco-Film Fest screened many award-winning films on the environment including Penyu Menangis (The Weeping Turtle), Conflict between Humans and Mangrove, and Green Crusaders from Malaysia as well as international films such as 11 Degrees, Climate Chaos in the South, Beyond the Pole, Agent Orange: 30 Years Later, and Meat the Truth. These films awakened the audience to the critical situation of climate change. Our Association members distributed well over a thousand copies of SOS flyers and DVDs and provided pure vegan food for free sampling for two days. A local Loving Hut also set up a booth to sell healthy and delicious “fast food” meals to the delight of both participants and visitors alike. It’s encouraging to see that so many people understand the root cause of global warming and are taking actions to save the planet.

Celebrating World Vegan Week and International Meatless Day

In conjunction with the 5th Annual World Vegan Week and International Meatless Day, the Malaysian Vegetarian Society (MVS) and the local Supreme Master Television team co-hosted an informal get-together on October 27 in celebration of compassion for our animal co-inhabitants and to take a stand for the well-being of the environment in light of current climate changes.

Mr. John Davis, Manager of the International Vegetarian Union and speaker for the evening, reflected on the history of vegetarian practice from the ancient Greek philosophers such as Pythagoras, Socrates and Plato to the establishment of the first Vegetarian Society in the United Kingdom in 1847 and gave current updates of related international activities and conferences that will be held in numerous countries in the coming months until 2012.

Our Association members presented the audience with another compelling reason to adopt a plant-based diet, which is to save the planet from global catastrophe. Colorful, reusable bags containing Supreme Master Television’s latest brochures along with SOS flyers and DVDs were given as gifts to the gracious guests. In the heavenly atmosphere, everyone enjoyed a delicious vegan buffet prepared by the local Loving Hut Café. May more Malaysians be enlightened and take better care of Mother Earth and all her inhabitants.

Advocating the Vegan Diet at Environmental Events
By Penang News Group (Originally in Chinese)

[Penang] On March 20, Golden Year 8 (2011), The Youth Group from the Penang Chinese Town Hall coordinated with WinSun Technologies in organizing an environmental event at the Penang Chinese Town Hall, which included an exhibition, seminars and an innovative drawing competition. Our Penang Center was invited to participate and to organize the seminars on that day.

At their exhibition booth, our fellow initiates displayed posters illustrating the relationship between global warming and the livestock industry, together with Master’s publications and a model of an iceberg that they made. Many guests were attracted by the Supreme Master Television programs being played and asked for more information. The children were especially intrigued and couldn’t take their eyes off the screen. In addition to distributing the SOS flyer, our group members also explained to the guests the importance of Be Veg, Go Green 2 Save the Planet!

The main presenter at the seminar that day was Mr. Tan Kok-Kuang, President of the Aident Corporation, who is a very experienced public speaker. In a humorous way, he pointed out why it is so vital that everyone adopt a compassionate plant-based diet and greatly impressed the guests. Our Penang Center hopes that this event will inspire more people to become vegan to help mitigate global warming.

First LOHAS Exhibition in Northern Malaysia

From March 25 to 27, Golden Year 8 (2011), the Aident Corporation and the 1Humanity Team International, an NGO, jointly organized the first ever LOHAS (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) exhibition held in northern Malaysia, attracting more than 4,000 spectators. All the surplus proceeds from the event were contributed to charitable groups and schools.

This LOHAS exhibition featured vegan food; health and green products; a blood donator clinic; free test-driving of green hybrid cars; a coloring and drawing competition, etc. Our Penang Center set up a booth at the vegan food charitable sale area, providing delectable vegan burgers and vegan rojak (a traditional Malaysian salad dish). They also displayed Master’s new book - From Crisis to Peace: The Organic Vegan way is the Answer, Her spiritual sample booklets, vegan recipes, and SOS flyers/DVDs, as well as played videos emphasizing the relationship between global warming and the livestock industry.

To allow more people to have the opportunity to know about Master’s teachings, our Penang Center contributed several dozen of Master’s books as prizes for the lucky draw. They also gave Master’s books and leaflets to other exhibitors and distributed various informative materials to the guests. To the organizer, they offered some of Master’s publications to be included in their free gift packs for the visitors, plus provided many posters and banners that were displayed all over the venue. In addition to that, our Penang Center especially contributed 120 vegan burgers to the children participating in the drawing competition, so they could experience the delicious taste of vegan food.

Through the promotional activities on that day, many people became interested in our Association and have a better understanding about the urgency of global warming and the importance of keeping the plant-based diet.
