The First Step to Stop Global Warming
Begins in Our Own Kitchen

By Jakarta News Group (Originally in Indonesia)

[Jakarta] Fellow initiates in Indonesia wearing the SOS Global Warming t-shirt while serving vegetarian food are helping people make a faster sensory association between the diet and climate change. Their latest effort to promote the plant-based diet as a means to save the Earth, came at the World Vegetarian Day 2008 Expo & Seminar organized by the Indonesian Vegetarian Society on October 25-26, Golden Year 5 (2008), at a shopping mall in Jakarta.
Expo visitors relish delicious vegan food and ask for recipes.

While fellow practitioners distributed about 10,000 SOS Global Warming pamphlets to visitors, WarVeg Anjali, owned by local initiates, offered subsidized vegan food alongside 21 other vegetarian restaurants. Their noble effort at spreading the urgent message was rewarded as their stall proved to be the most popular. Altogether, they offered a selection of 15 delicious dishes.

The initiates thank Master for Her infinite love and blessing so that they had the opportunity to show visitors that vegan food is delicious and healthy, and that an efficient way to stop global warming effects can begin right from our own kitchen.

Changing Our Eating Habits to Curb Global Warming

By Jakarta News Group (Originally in Indonesian)

[Jakarta] Since June of Golden Year 5 (2008), the local initiates have been participating in bazaars in office buildings and giving seminars in various schools in Jakarta to promote plant-based natural foods as the fastest way to curb global warming.

From November 4 to 7, our fellow initiates served different kinds of delicious vegan foods at the latest bazaar in office buildings at Bapindo Plaza located on the main road of Sudirman’s Central Business District. It was really a big surprise to most of the employees that vegan foods can be as delicious as their usual lunch. Many took turns to taste the foods and asked questions on how to cook them at home. Apart from sharing the recipes, our initiates explained the benefits of the vegetarian diet for health and the environment. They also distributed SOS leaflets and played Supreme Master TV programs during the bazaar.

On November 6 and 7, a group of initiates went to a Christian school, Sekolah Kristen Ketapang, at Cibubur to conduct a seminar on global warming and introduce vegan foods to the students and their parents. Students from elementary, junior high and senior high schools joined the seminar. The curious students asked many questions, especially on how a vegetarian way of life is the main solution to global warming, and received thorough answers from our fellow initiates. During the break, the students and their parents had the chance to try the delicious vegan meals including cakes prepared by our initiates. Many moms were delighted to have their kids start eating vegetarian food and showed great eagerness to cook at home after receiving the recipes from our initiates.
