Loving Message Spread through World Cup Football Games and Non-violence Campaign

World Cup Distribution

The World Cup football game is one of the most popular sports games in the world, occurring every four years and attracting football fans from all around the globe.

Upon hearing the 2006 World Cup football game would be held in Germany, fellow initiates from Germany and the USA quickly prepared enough flyers, in German, Spanish and English, and coordinated a distribution strategy according to the games scheduled in different cities to meet people from different countries.

We did not know if the lively football fans would understand what we were doing as the sporting event seemed so far away from vegetarianism. But, to our surprise, many people took the flyers and read them, some of them asked for more information and agreed with the Alternative Living message. Many passing by were attracted by the big Alternative Living poster we had on display and took flyers out of curiosity. One young man asked us several interesting questions after reading the flyers. He ended up helping us distribute flyers and also spoke to people about vegetarianism.

In Munich, while distributing flyers outside the stadium, we met two youths from Brazil and France who were both vegetarian and were very pleased to see us informing people of a better way of life. They wished us success and hoped that one day there would be more vegetarian restaurants around the world, because through their experience they had difficulty finding vegetarian food.

The whole distribution activity during the World Cup lasted around 25 days from June to July. We traveled to more than ten cities almost non-stop. All together we handed out about 65,000 flyers to football fans, local people, foreign tourists, police and other working staff as well as putting flyers on cars, bicycles and in mailboxes. Surprisingly, none of us even felt tired, only endless blessing, bliss, real happiness from inside, and the honorable feeling found through serving others.

Alternative Living in Harmony with Animal Rights

On July 29th, a large demonstration and parade entitled “Stop Slaughtering Animals” was held in Düsseldorf, Germany by members of animal rights organizations from Poland, Spain, USA, Netherlands, Austria, and so on. Fellow initiates in Germany also participated in this event, taking the opportunity to distribute Master’s precious Alternative Living message.

In the beginning people didn’t know who we were or what we were doing. But after reading the flyers and hearing about the purpose of our actions, they quickly accepted us and we worked together as if we were in the same family.

At noon, the parade began, and through loud speakers people were informed of the importance of being vegetarian, supported by the many big posters and banners saying “Thou shall not kill includes animals too!” or “Be vegetarian, save lives!” etc.... The parade continued along the main street to a small square near a river bank. There the organizers had prepared a stage where people publicly spoke about the cruel ways animals are being raised and slaughtered. Many people were astonished to know the truth, and signed their names in support of this non-violence campaign for animals. Famous singers also entertained us with loving, animal rights related songs. The entire gathering was very peaceful, and the atmosphere harmonious attracting big crowds. During the event, fellow initiates made friends with members of other peace oriented organizations, and were also informed about their future events.

After the meeting finished, we continued distributing flyers in the busy shopping centers, putting them on cars and bicycles, even giving them to the police. We are grateful for this good opportunity to work together with others who have the same ideal and are very happy to see so many people’s positive responses toward vegetarianism and animal rights.
