Inmates at the Prison San Sebastian watch Master's videotaped lecture.
Prisoners receiving Christmas presents
On December 12, 2001, fellow practitioners in Costa Rica celebrated Christmas with inmates at the Prison San Sebastian in their capital of San Jose.

The initiates wore red Christmas hats and a sister dressed up as Santa Claus, adding to the jovial atmosphere at the event. The inmates put on wonderful performances, winning high praise from the audience. The venue resounded with joyous laughter and all of the participants joined in jubilant dancing. The inmates expressed profuse thanks to Master, and some were so overwhelmed by joy that they burst into tears. After the performances, the initiates and inmates together enjoyed sumptuous vegetarian Christmas delicacies, and each inmate received a Christmas present.

We also presented one of Master's videotaped lectures, after which many of the inmates asked to learn the Convenient Method. To the initiates' great delight, the warden of the prison promised to allow us in for group meditation once a month.

On Christmas Eve, local initiates held an activity to express Master's concern for vagrants in the San Jose area. We drove through the city's streets, distributing food, hot coffee, clothing and quilts to homeless people using cardboard boxes to shield themselves against the cold. For both initiates and the homeless, this activity was an unforgettable experience of love.
