Just before the "big shake" came, I was sitting at my desk practicing an almost forgotten skill - making dough figurines. We were planning to put on a demonstration of dough figurine-making at our booth during the Mid-Autumn celebrations in Florida. Counting the days and hours, that long anticipated day was near.

Suddenly, there was a big quake, and all my dough figurines wobbled and collapsed. A blackout followed! I ran outside as fast as I could, without even putting on my slippers. When I had recovered from the shock, I meditated in the courtyard, waiting for daybreak. Opposite my house, big rocks kept rolling down, creating frightening sound effects. My heart pounded madly; I was really frightened. I also was worried about my parents, who lived on the fifth floor of an old building. One of them had difficulty walking, and the other was suffering from a chronic disease. I worried about their safety. How I wished that I had a pair of wings so that I could fly to their side! However, my anxiety didn't help at all. Daylight broke at last. A family in my neighborhood was leaving the mountains, so I went with them, clearing the path for our descent. I was anxious to rush back to Nantou to see my parents.

Master's promise to take care of all those whom Quan Yin practitioners love and are concerned about was once again affirmed. My parents' house had been partially damaged, but everyone was safe. That knowledge allowed me to join the relief operation with peace of mind.

In my own house up on the hills of Shuili, after the power supply was restored, I found that all the electrical appliances were still working. It was incredible that a wooden shelf hanging on the wall and 140 cm above the ground was still in place. All the things on it - Master's blessed items, plates, Celestial Jewelry, Master's hair and other sundry items - were intact. Moreover, a 200 cm-high wooden cabinet holding Master's videotapes, audiotapes, and books remained in place, while the door of my house was displaced and an iron bed had toppled.

Master, I am truly thankful to You for all the trouble You have taken! These are the only words that I can find to express my feelings. If You are tired of hearing them, I have more heartfelt gratitude deep inside me which I cannot find words to express.
