Sharing the Vegetarian Ideal at the SPCA Pet Walk
Hong Kong By Hong Kong News Group (Originally in Chinese)

[Hong Kong] On March 30, Golden Year 5 (2008), local fellow initiates participated in the Pet Walk 2008 sponsored by the Hong Kong Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HKSPCA) to raise funds for improving conditions in animal shelters.

During the event, the initiates sold vegetarian delicacies for charity, and recognizing the major role played by our lovely doggie friends in human life, conducted a Doggie Recharge Station and a Doggie Water Station to help the animals replenish their energy. Many cute, lively dogs enjoyed the water and loving food provided at the stations, and a large number of caretakers bought vegetarian dog food once they understood it provided sufficient nutrients to sustain the health of their darling pets.

Fellow initiates also prepared delicious vegetarian delicacies for the SPCA staff to enjoy, and with their help inserted SOS climate-change flyers into the gift bags given to participants to raise public awareness that the vegetarian lifestyle can help reverse global warming.

The initiates contributed the proceeds from the activity along with Master’s DVDs and animal books to the SPCA, whose staff said the materials would be useful in their educational programs.
