Reputed
as one who "recognizes all treasures", Dr. Edward J. Gubelin is one of the
world's most respected and authoritative experts in geology and gemology.
Founder of the Gubelin Precious Stones Appraisal and Research Center in Belgium,
he has received many honors in his field of expertise and serves as an appraisal
consultant at jewelry auctions held by two of the world's famous auction houses
-- Sotheby and Christie. In 1996, when Dr. Gubelin visited Formosa to deliver
an islandwide series of lectures at the invitation of the International Jewelry
Exhibition, he had the opportunity to see Supreme Master Ching Hai's designs.
He was highly complimentary of the Celestial Jewelry Collection, which he
carefully studied and appreciated at the exhibition venue. (Please refer to

that Master's creative works have left on his mind have not faded with the
passing of time. Below is a recent letter from Dr. Gubelin.

WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
When
I enjoyed the privilege of being introduced to Mrs. Supreme Master Ching Hai
and admired the exhibition of her exquisite and interesting jewelry in her
booth at Taipei in September 1996, I was indeed greatly impressed by her outstanding
jewelry. There was no single piece that would remind me of other jewelry I
had seen in other jewelry shops or exhibitions. In other words, each individual
piece of jewelry and artifacts designed and realized by the Master of Celestial
Jewelry, Mrs. Supreme Master Ching Hai, was an individual piece of jewelry
of outstanding originality. Some of the specimens were thought for normal
personal adornment, others exhibited profound philosophical thoughts. Other
articles of practical use, such as tea-services and cutlery, displayed the
expression of intellectual imagination combined with exquisite beauty.
It
is rather difficult to find the appropriate words to adequately describe the
unusual and eloquent style of the artistic pieces created by Celestial Jewelry
because of its outstanding uniqueness.
I
bid Mrs. Supreme Master Ching Hai, the Master of Celestial Jewelry, continued
imagination for continuing her expressive designs and splendid artifacts.
