June 23, 1991 was the day of initiation for sister Li's sister-in-law and her family. When they invited sister Li to visit Hsihu Center with them, she accepted the invitation thinking there would be no harm in just going there for a look. Hsihu Center was packed with a large crowd that day, and sister Li's appearance in a short skirt drew much attention. Her improper way of dressing resulted in a heated argument with fellow initiates on duty. It was only later that sister Li realized Master was using this incident to erase some of her karma. At the time, however, the harsh reprimands she received under the eyes of many people greatly embarrassed her. Pride and a strong ego got in the way. She could not understand Master's painstaking arrangements. Deep down in her heart, she retorted, "I have no intention of requesting initiation. Why should anyone care how I dress?" To avoid attracting too much attention, however, she changed into a pair of trousers that she purchased at the publication circulation counter.

A heavy rain that day washed away the dust and the dirt, both tangible and intangible. When the sky cleared, sister Li walked around and found herself at the initiation request counter. All requests for initiation had been screened and people were waiting to receive initiation in the main hall. Suddenly, she heard a Quan Yin messenger say, "If this sister is going to take initiation, please fill out the form quickly." Sister Li looked around; there was no one else near her. Perhaps her new pair of meditation trousers gave the deceptive appearance of one preparing to receive initiation. As she stood there disconcerted, she heard the Quan Yin messenger speak again. It was thus through this incredible arrangement by Master that sister Li completed the application form and received initiation without any trouble.

Although her ignorant mind had tried to clamp down on her aspiring soul by generating a misleading message, it failed to block out God's omniscient and almighty wisdom. God always knows the best time for a person to receive initiation. However, hurdle after hurdle continued to arise in her mind, hindering her from serious spiritual practice after the initiation. Still, Master mercifully treats and cares for all disciples equally without discrimination.

In December 1995, four years after the initiation, sister Li had a motorbike accident on her way home. She sustained severe facial injuries and a concussion. The doctor placed her under observation for a few days before deciding to operate. On the night before her surgery, while still in a coma, she saw a being dressed in black coming toward her. "Your time has come. Come with me quickly," it said, seizing her hand, dragging her to the window, and demanding that she jump down with it. In extreme terror, sister Li struggled with all her strength. At this critical moment, she turned her head and saw Master's manifestation form, in a sapphire blue Au Lac gown, appear by her side. Master's comforting words rang in her ears, "Don't be afraid. It's all right! It's all right!" Master spoke to the being, and after what seemed to be a brief negotiation, it departed in silence. Not only did Master mercifully save her life but the surgery left no scars on her face.

This was a blessing in disguise! Every mishap that happens after initiation carries a positive significance. The traffic accident awakened sister Li to the preciousness of the initiation and Master's infinite love and compassion. It also eliminated many obstacles created by her human mind. Now she practices diligently and participates in the work at her local Center, enthusiastically hoping to repay Master's grace.
