Madanga
renounced the mundane life because of her deep love for Ananda, only
to realize later the transitory nature of all things, whereupon she
practiced diligently and attained Arahatship before Ananda. The Buddha
used countless ways to save sentient beings; for Madanga, her love for
Ananda was no more than an "excuse" to lead her on to spiritual
practice. Master once said that some people seek spiritual practice
because they are in love with Master or with someone else.
The best way to please your family and friends, and also to advocate vegetarianism, is to serve them delicious and delectable vegetarian dishes, lovingly prepared. The recent publication: "Volume II of the Supreme Kitchen -- Home Taste Selections," offers a recipe collection of 141 exotic dishes, all savored and recommended by Master. Many of these are frequently found on Hsihu's menu. The dishes are easy to prepare and are suitable both for family meals and for large feasts. This recipe book is the ideal choice for family kitchens and for more serious cooks, and makes an excellent gift.
