Brother Wang died of diabetes during the 1998 Chinese New Year holiday, leaving behind sister Li and two young daughters. The news came as a shock to fellow initiates, for brother Wang had been to the Center to help with the spring cleaning right before Chinese New Year. Who would have thought that he would leave so silently within just a few days! One week before his death, brother Wang was reading the Suma News magazine after his morning meditation when he said casually, "If I die, please let me go quietly. Don't make too much fuss about it. Throw my ashes into the sea and return to celebrate with singing and dancing. Just be happy!" His younger daughter chimed in delight, "That is when we will play Master's song On New Year's Eve, brother Wang suddenly collapsed from exhaustion. Sister Li rushed him to the hospital but he remained in poor condition until his death. One day after he was hospitalized, sister Li was putting away the clothes when her elder daughter said, "Mom, let me help you take Dad's clothes outside and burn them." These abrupt words sounded ominous, but refusing to believe that her husband might soon pass away, sister Li responded, "Not yet, your father has not gone." Two days later, brother Wang passed away. Master had prepared sister Li for her husband's death through her daughter's words. Although she had refused to admit it, down in her heart, she knew it was true. The night after brother Wang died, sister Li had a hard time falling asleep. Suddenly her younger daughter began to talk in her sleep and the words broke the silence of the night. "Master has taken dad away! Master has taken dad away! She has taken him to heaven!" These few simple words shook the air and put sister Li's mind to rest, removing all her worries and grief. Master had led brother Wang to a happy and carefree life in heaven. The living ones have no reason to grieve! Throughout the funeral procession, Master's Buddha chanting tape was played and the ceremony was held in the most simple way. Initiates who attended the funeral experienced a wonderful feeling they had never had before. Everyone felt relaxed and joyful. It was as though they were not having a funeral but a celebration of life. It was then that they understood why Chuang Tzu of the ancient times sang and beat a pot upon the death of his wife. The truth is: he was celebrating the birth of the deceased into another world. For the initiates, it was an enlightening moment on the true meaning behind the words, "to live is to die, to die is to live". We owe it to the universal supreme method transmitted by Master that we now know our destiny and the true meaning of life. Through this method, we have learnt to cherish our lives, practice more diligently, and seek liberation from the illusion and fear of death. Of course, these are only the fringe benefits of practicing the Quan Yin Method. The true joy of practice comes as in drinking water when only he who drinks knows the taste. As the Buddha said, "It is beyond words!"
