Fellow initiates worldwide, inspired by the call for love and compassion of Supreme Master Ching Hai, took concrete action to demonstrate their concern for the homeless and destitute in the cold wintry weather. In Ulaanbator, the local Center of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association organized visits to the needy and homeless in both urban and suburban areas with the assistance of Mr. Banzragch, Mr. Baldorg and Mr. Ganbold of the government's social welfare department, and Chief Editor Chogzayabaatar and reporter Altangerel of the People's Power Press. The relief activities lasted almost a week, from January 25 to 29.

Volunteers in yellow vests traveled in trucks with huge posters of Supreme Master Ching Hai on them. Over a thousand sets of warm clothes, carefully pressed and folded, and cold creams, candies and cookies packed with love, were distributed to the needy.

Reporters from the People's Power Press readily showed their enthusiastic support to the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association's volunteers when they heard about Supreme Master Ching Hai's acts of compassion. The first activity was held on January 25 when Chief Editor Chozayabaatar and his reporter arranged the coming together for the volunteers of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association and the needy residents of Chingeltei District. The following day, social welfare officers and Bayangol District Chief Ms. Erdenetsetseg quickly assembled the needy in a primary school, Ulaanbator, where they received winter clothing and watched videotaped lectures of Supreme Master Ching Hai. For them, this event turned out to be beneficial both materially and spiritually.

Mongolian children smile innocently as they hold the winter clothing from Supreme Master Ching Hai in their arms.

The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association's members also visited low-income families in Rubbishhill District three times. As they drove up a hill toward the needy, the volunteers waved colorful balloons to greet them. The local people immediately put down their work and rushed up the hill to receive the much needed food and clothing. These people, with an amiable and happy nature, stopped in front of a big photo of Supreme Master Ching Hai, put their palms together and bowed to Her, lightly touching the photo with their foreheads in a traditional show of reverence for a saint. When the volunteers were preparing to leave, they saw children joyfully singing and hailing the name "Supreme Master Ching Hai" as they ran about on the slope holding balloons in their hands.

Their bliss was infectious. Even the livestock were influenced by the joyful atmosphere and were reluctant to wander away from the trucks. Some of the people asked to have a photo taken with the volunteers, while others sat on the slope reading sample booklets and pamphlets. In an instant, Supreme Master Ching Hai's loving compassion had pervaded the entire hillside.

On the way back, the volunteers ran into several homeless people who were not dressed warmly enough, and quickly alighted to inquire about their needs, offering them some food and clothing. Holding Supreme Master Ching Hai's pamphlets to their bosoms, the homeless posed for a photograph with the volunteers. An old lady put her gifts into her only property -- a linen sack, and with tears in her eyes, said, "I am so happy to have met you!" To this, the volunteers responded that it was all due to Supreme Master Ching Hai's love and grace. They then continued on their way to Bayangol and Denienmingol districts.

On January 28, they visited Sub-district 12 of Bayangol District, where incidentally, a large convention was being held. District Chief Ojun and Erdene introduced the volunteers to over a hundred local residents. In addition to giving the residents warm clothing, fellow initiates also shared Master's message: Seek eternal spiritual wealth, for that is the only everlasting treasure.

After reading the sample booklet, the people turned their attention toward spiritual concerns. Instantly, an air of tranquility settled over the venue. Fellow initiates wasted no time showing and interpreting Master's videotaped lectures to the audience, as well as to District Chief Ojun and Erdene who watched the tapes with great interest. At the end of the program, local representatives expressed their happiness at seeing Supreme Master Ching Hai's group doing the job of saints in their hometown.

As the heartwarming winter relief activities drew to a close, the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association volunteers expressed their appreciation for the assistance they had received from many local people. They stated that the activities were intended to attract the attention of others so that more people would generously help their brothers and sisters survive the cold winter months.
