Put Love Into Action Report From The Philippines
In mid 1996, the United Nations and the Red Cross ceased to provide financial and medical support for Au Lac asylum seekers in Palawan, the Philippine. Thanks to the benevolent policy of the Philippine Government, the country accepted the asylum seekers. The Catholic Church also cared very much for them, and the Center For Assistance To Displaced Persons, Inc. helped them build their own village. It is hoped that they can begin a new life there.
The construction of this village is expected to be completed in early 1997. Apart from the support of the Church, the building fund relies also on Au Lac compatriots overseas. When Supreme Master Ching Hai learnt that Palawan still needed financial support, She immediately instructed that US$50,000 be set aside from the proceeds of Her charity sale. The money was used to subsidize the asylum seekers' medical expenses and their building fund.
A letter of gratitude and receipt from the CADP in Palawan to the Supreme Master Ching Hai for Her kind contribution. (The first US $30,000. The second US $20,.000 came later.)

Dear Master,
We just received an amount of US$30,000 from the Quan Yin messengers, expressing Your love and concern toward the Vietnam Village and the boat people in the Philippines. Due to the unification of the Vietnamese community as well as the benevolence of all our benefactors to the boat people, we hope that during the first few months of the year of the Ox, we will bring them to this village so that they can have a peaceful life for themselves and for their children as well.
This amount will be put in the Support Fund under the Vietnam Village's account. Enclosed herewith is the receipt of this money. We also take this opportunity to thank the association for your love and concern about the boat people as well as to contribute to our camp, a group of boat people, who practice spiritually and are willing to help others. This group of brothers and sisters has always earn the love and respect of our people as a result of their dignity as well as their way of spiritual practice.
May God bless You and other benefactors during this Christmasseason and the coming new year.
Respectfully
Sister Pascal, Le Thi Triu
