The most respected authority of the world in gemology and geology, Dr. Edward J. Gubelin, was invited to give a seminar tour in Formosa along with this International
Jewelry Exhibition. He has the reputation of "no treasure can escape his eyes".
Possessing numerous honors in the field of gemology, he is the founder of the Gubelin Precious Stones Appraisal and Research Center in Belgium, and has also
been appointed the expert consultant of the world's two largest auction houses
-- Sotheby and Chester. Dr. Gubelin has been conducting research on precious
stone deposits in rocks for over sixty years. This time, he specially visited
the Celestial Jewelry exhibition booth, accompanied by the Executive Director
of the Formosan Jewelry and Antique Trading Center, Madam Yu Seng Chang.

Dr. Gubelin, the most esteemed
gemstone expert in the world, highly acclaimed the Celestial Jewelry by
the great artistic Master -- Supreme Master Ching Hai! Right: Madam Yu Seng Chang.

After a close
study of the Celestial Jewelry, Dr. Gubelin expressed that it was the honor
of his life to see and touch the Celestial Jewelry designed by Supreme Master Ching Hai.
Each item impressed him deeply as they were uniquely and fashionably styled.
He highly praised the designer for being able to create artistic artifacts out
of crude materials, and yet be in accord with the modern society -- an exceptional
achievement indeed! He also applauded Supreme Master Ching Hai for designing each piece
of jewelry with an exclusive theme. For instance, the "Meditating Quan Yin Bodhisattva"
of the children's collection is rich in Egyptian characteristics, while the
"Tao" in the collection for men is very extraordinary and elegant. He remarked
that the Korean people would love this set, because Tai Chi is the symbol of
Korea, representing the equilibrium of yin and yang. After a careful study of
"To The Other Shore" in the ladies' collection, he commented that the set featuring
the blue Turkish stones was most beautiful and elegant, and was his favorite.
When he first took a glance
at the Heavenly Dragon Imperial Cutlery set, he immediately pointed out that
the interior and exterior of the Heavenly Dragon tea bowl were individually
finished with a matt and glossy gold surface, a brilliant example in contrasting
design.
With admiration, he noticed
that the designer had, within each collection, considerately taken care of both
sexes. For example: "E.T." in the collection for children, a tie-pin for boys
had been cleverly included. The "Future Buddha" set was designed for ladies,
but there was an octagonal tie-pin with a lightning pattern. Similarly, a tie-pin
was also found in the "Born Anew" collection for ladies.
From the different themes
and artistic approaches in Her design, Dr. Gubelin perceived Supreme Master Ching Hai's
intention to care for all sentient beings, as shown by the love and sincerity
in Her designs.
In the venue was a beautiful
photo of the designer -- Supreme Master Ching Hai -- and he gazed at it for a very long
time. The image of this enlightened person who also possesses superb artistic
talents had impressed him deeply.
This electrifying encounter
of the S.M. Celestial Jewelry with the world's authority in gemology was truly
a sensational meeting.
