Fellow
sister Chen has an eighty-year old mother-in-law who lived at home.
Although the old lady chanted the name of Amitabha Buddha every
day, she received no special response. She even tried every means
possible to obstruct sister Chen from practicing after she was
initiated by Supreme Master Ching Hai. Besides praying to Master
for help, sister Chen meditated diligently and maintained her faith
in spiritual practice, despite the hindrance from her mother-in-law.
This ordeal persisted for almost two years. Finally, thanks to
the blessing power of Master's infinite love, the old lady followed
her daughter-in-law to the Hsihu Center to see Master. That day,
Master went near sister Chen's mother-in-law several times blessing
her.
Since
then, the old lady has had a complete change to her conception
of spiritual practice. She has stopped obstructing her daughter-in-law's
spiritual cultivation, and has expressed absolute faith in Master's
omnipresent power. At home, she still chants Buddha's name and
counts the chanting beads as usual. One thing different, however,
is that she also chants Supreme Master Ching Hai's name in addition
to that of Amitabha Buddha.
After
that, a chain of fantastic things has happened! Often, she has
seen her chanting beads radiating intense light. This light is
so strong that her room is illuminated brighter than daylight;
and she has never experienced this phenomenon before. Besides the
radiant chanting beads, Supreme Master Ching Hai has often taken
her to visit many other worlds in her sleep. She still remembers
some of them after waking up.
The old
woman no longer obstructs the spiritual practice of her daughter-in-law,
because she also feels Master's boundless love. There is an important
message in this story: Ever since sister Chen's mother-in-law saw
the enlightened Supreme Master Ching Hai, they have been connected
within, and she has begun the real chanting of Buddha's name.
