At the end of August 2010, three days of continuous rain had caused the Amnokgang River to overflow, inundating China’s Dandong area and North Korea’s Sinuiju area. In North Korea, military helicopters and boats were deployed to rescue and evacuate over 5,000 people from the affected neighborhoods, where almost all the buildings and farmland were submerged.

Receipt of KRW16,278,460 (US$14,380) for the 36 tons of wheat flour and transportation.

Upon hearing the news, Supreme Master Ching Hai immediately offered US$10,000 as emergency aid. Our Association members from South Korea also contributed about US$4,000. With the combined fund, they purchased 36 tons of wheat flour and loaded it in two containers ready to be shipped from Port Incheon. On September 18, the flour was delivered to North Korea through South-North Sharing, an organization that provides assistance to North Korea on a regular basis.

South-North Sharing and the wheat flour factory staff expressed their appreciation for the unconditional love our Association extended to those suffering in North Korea and they were happy to be part of it. We pray that Master’s loving support will give comfort and hope to the flood stricken people in North Korea.
