Mudslide Victims Receive Loving Assistance
By Kenya Relief Team (Originally in French)

After a night of heavy rainfall, a major mudslide occurred in Attecoube, an area near Abidjan, Cote d’lvoire (Ivory Coast), taking the lives of at least 16 people. Deeply sorrowed by the disaster, Supreme Master Ching Hai immediately sent financial aid for the survivors.

On August 24, 2009, a relief team comprised of our Association members from Kenya arrived in Attecoube and met with the Mayor to discuss the relief work. The team then distributed food and some other basic necessities to people in the affected area on the 26th and accepted an invitation to speak on the local radio channel. They took this opportunity to describe the relief effort, and appeal to the audience to become vegetarians to reduce global warming and end further suffering. When asked why they came so far to help the disaster victims, the initiates replied, “For the love of God.”

Thank you letter from the Mayor of Attecoube, Mr. Paulin Claude Danho (Originally in French)

The Mayor of Attecoube, Mr. Paulin Claude Danho expressed his deepest and most sincere thanks to the Association in an appreciation letter, saying, “I would also like to congratulate the amazing amount of work that was accomplished in such a short amount of time in Ivory Coast, to give back a smile to the victims.”

May God bless all those affected by the Cote d’Ivoire mudslides and help them to a speedy recovery.
