New Irish Magazine Interviews
Supreme Master Ching Hai

(Originally in English)

Published on April 10, Golden Year 5 (2008), the very first edition of The Earth magazine featured an interview graciously granted by Supreme Master Ching Hai that awakened its nationwide readership to the environmental issues facing our wonderful planet and all her inhabitants. The magazine, produced by the Irish-based publishing company Media Force Ireland, is distributed with the country’s largest newspaper and has about 590,000 readers.

The interview was a great success. The Earth’s manager said she had received positive feedback from many people, adding that the magazine will continue to cover a variety of areas and topics to help in “taking Ireland to a brighter future.” For their kindhearted work, Master sent gifts to the magazine’s staff members. They were truly overjoyed by Her act of love, saying, “We rarely receive such appreciation.”

The following is the article from the premier issue of The Earth magazine.

Supreme Master Television

Launched in 2006, Supreme Master Television is a satellite channel that broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, around the world, in English, and is subtitled into ten other languages.

With the aim of promoting a better world and protection of the planet, the channel broadcasts a message of peace to bring nobility and spirituality to the lives of its viewers.

Supreme Master Ching Hai, the world-renowned humanitarian, artist and spiritual leader, spoke recently about the challenges the planet faces, and how Supreme Master Television is helping to promote care for our planet.

Q: Master, there are a huge variety of programs on Supreme Master Television that help us to help to save the planet.

M: We have to do something – everybody must do something, whatever we can, to save the planet. Visit www.suprememastertv.com for full information. You can watch everything [that is broadcast] on the website, just like it would appear on television. In some places, people do not have access to satellite TV, so that is a way they can watch it.

Q: The United Nations report of 2006 found that the management of cattle had a huge impact on climate change.

M: The UN report stated that livestock and animal husbandry is the number one cause of climate change. The gases produced by either the stock, or the production of animal products and their waste contributes around 37 percent of human-induced methane, which is 23 times more warming than carbon dioxide. Livestock also produces 65 percent of the Earth’s nitrous oxide, which is 296 times more warming than carbon dioxide.

Q: Master, how can people help to save the planet? What do you advise us to do?

M: 1. We must change to a vegetarian diet. We have to reduce our meat consumption, and reduce completely our use of animal products.

2. We have to change to sustainable energy, and use it.

3. Everybody needs to plant two or three trees – we need trillions of trees!

4. We must pray for help, because we have no control now.

5. Everyone must do whatever they can – save electricity, gas, have less traffic, eat less meat – reduce everything that is harmful to us.
