Being compassionate to the educational needs of young children, the Formosan tycoon Mr. Yung-Ching Wang offered to build 10,000 primary schools in the rural areas of China, along with the provision of scholarships.

Mr. Yung-Ching Wang started his career as a rice seller, became the founder of multiple enterprises and is now regarded as one of the ten richest Chinese. His business history includes not only industrialization of Formosa, but also the successful transformation of the Formosan medical system from a highly autocratic to a service-oriented one by setting an excellent example with his own modernized hospital. With his business talent and background in management, Mr. Wang ensures that every school he builds will be fully functional. At the age of 90, he remains fit and active. For years he has also been one of the major advocates for a peace agreement between China and Formosa.
