God’s Message Travels
throughout Cameroon
Compiled report by Cameroon News
Group (Originally in French and English) Comfortably nestled in the equatorial belt of tropical Central Africa, Cameroon is considered a land of unequaled hospitality and warm-hearted welcome toward all who visit its territory. In accordance with this time-honored Cameroonian spirit and to extend Master’s graciouscompassion, fellow practitioners in Cameroon mobilized an extensive Alternative Living leaflet distribution initiative that encompassed the cities of Douala, AbongMBang, Nanga Eboko, Bertoua, Bamenda, Buea, Kumba, Bafoussam, Kribi, Ngaoundere, Maroua, Koser, Yaoundé, Ebolowa, Ambam and the neighboring countries of Chad and Gabon. Fellow practitioners felt they were in effect reminding the Cameroonian people to extend this cherished hospitality to their own souls, minds, hearts and bodies; and most importantly, to the animal kingdom. The following accounts are of some of the places visited by the practitioners.
Abong-Mbang, Nanga Eboko and Bertoua
As Douala Center is the primary Center in Cameroon, the Alternative Living flyer distribution began with a distribution expedition to Abong-Mbang, a principal town in the Eastern province of Cameroon. Numerous leaflet recipients expressed positive support for the noble content of the Alternative Living flyers, while others said they enjoyed the sample vegetarian recipes that accompanied the flyers.
Bamenda
In Bamenda, the capital city of the North-West province of Cameroon, most of the populace demonstrated enthusiastic receptivity to the Alternative Living message. Many agreed with our explanation about the health hazards resulting from a meat diet and said they felt sorry for their previous lack of awareness about the vegetarian diet as a noble, life-saving and compassionate alternative to meat consumption. Children, adults and the elderly all heartily accepted the leaflets, and some even did so for their friends, relatives and business associates. At one point, a bystander voluntarily lent a helping hand when a distributing sister-initiate was inundated by the multitudes of recipients. Some people even requested further assistance with the preparation of vegetarian recipes.
Bafoussam Early on May 31, a brother-initiate and two benevolent friends traveled from Bamenda to Bafoussam, to share the Alternative Living message with the local people there. Together they wholeheartedly distributed the flyers on the streets, in pubs, snack bars, banks, court premises and motor parks. Recipients included street vendors, nurses, lawyers, carpenters, motor mechanics, proprietors and salespersons in shops and local supermarkets. They were astounded by the unique eagerness with which the people accepted these flyers. Some even requested that a considerable number of the leaflets be left for further distribution at their job premises, locales or amongst friends and family. Moreover, initiates were able to fulfill recipients’ interest in vegetarian food by appending a manual containing guidelines for preparing simple but delicious and nutritious vegetarian recipes.
Gabon
Initiates in Douala also wished to spread Master’s gracious message in Gabon, a country adjoining Cameroon. Accordingly, they set out on an expedition and finally arrived in Libreville, the capital city of Gabon. There they were joined by a friend, and thus the trio endeavored to dispense Alternative Living flyers to the local populace. Notwithstanding the relative novelty of the vegetarian concept in a country like Gabon, fellow practitioners were amazed by the degree of receptivity towards the Alternative Living message. With Master’s blessings, the distribution proceeded in an atmosphere of serenity and joy, and within two days, a total of 20,000 leaflets were delivered throughout Libreville. Overall, 150,000 Alternative Living leaflets have been distributed by Cameroon practitioners: 30,000 in English and 120,000 in French. Initiates were also able to alleviate people’s concerns about the outbreak of bird flu by making them aware of an alternative and more compassionate way of life. As such, the distribution activity received many positive responses from people. Some locals thanked the fellow initiates repeatedly, some offered to help with the distribution, others sincerely asked about the details of a vegetarian diet and some even called the local Center to ask for more information. During the distribution activities, one brother experienced numerous
episodes of spontaneous miracles, further compounding his reassurance
of Master’s omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience. All fellow
initiates deeply felt God’s love and blessings as they worked.
They wholeheartedly thank Master for granting them the opportunity
to act as instruments for Her infinite compassion and love in Cameroon
and its neighboring countries, Gabon and Chad.
