Brisbane’s Earth Dialogue Sessions

By Brisbane News Group, Australia (Originally in English)

From July 22 to 24, Golden Year 3 (2006), Brisbane played host to the Earth Dialogue Sessions as part of the city’s annual cultural and arts festival. The Earth Dialogues were held in the Brisbane Town Hall, where Master also delivered a public lecture in 1993. They aimed to provide a platform for promoting creative and scientific thinking, discussions and possible resolutions regarding a sustainable future for humans and our delicate environment. All Earth Dialogue Sessions held were free for all citizens. Knowing the importance of a vegetarian diet for a better environment, Brisbane initiates arranged to meet in the city on Saturday July 22 to share Master’s Alternative Living message with the public around the Brisbane Town Hall.

One of the distinguished guest speakers during the first session was Mr. Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the Soviet Union and now President of Green Cross International; an organization he founded in 1993 that focuses on humanity’s vital connection with nature, peace and global poverty.[1] While distributing flyers, one initiate spoke to a gentleman who had just listened to Mr. Gorbachev’s speech and he very kindly relayed one of the key points. On the topic of alternative energy, the former Soviet leader spoke about nuclear energy and advised that nuclear power stations should only be built as a last resort if no other alternative energy is available.

After finishing handing out flyers, some practitioners got together and reflected on their efforts. They felt it was a great learning experience to share Master’s peaceful, loving message with the public, and are grateful for all opportunities that arise from the ongoing flyer distribution exercise to continue developing their love, wisdom and compassion.
