[Hsihu] This year Mother's Day happened to be on the second day of the regular two-day retreat in Formosa. After an overnight meditation, fellow initiates celebrated this special day along with guests who came to Hsihu. More than three thousand people watched the highlights of Master’s lecture video and enjoyed the performances to celebrate Master’s birthday and Mother's Day.

First, the sister master of ceremony represented all Formosa initiates in reciting a poem offering to Master. Following was a violin performance by a brother from Tainan, who played Master’s musical creation, “Remember Me When the Rain Falls.” Clapping with the rhythm, all melted in the delightful atmosphere of joy. With brimming tears fellow initiates felt no way to requite Master’s significant kindness while other fellow practitioners from universities and colleges lead them in singing, “How Great You Are, Mother!” They then followed Master’s voice to sing, “Small Lambs Want to Go Home” in chorus.

In infinitely grateful mood, many initiates recalled the past sweet times with Master. Sister Lin said, “Once during Mother's Day eve in the early times, Master personally prepared lunch for would-be-initiates and initiates. At that time we were just happy to celebrate the Mother's Day and did not know to share the work from Master. On the contrary, we even let Master cook for us. It’s about 20 years since then, and we still have not forgotten those beautiful memories!”

Brother Hu from Nantou center also showed his gratitude to Master with two poems. One of them was recited as, “Divine light illuminates the Nine Realms of Heaven./ Tranquil mind attracts celestial beings from Four Oceans. / Enlightenment leads me into ethereal realms. / When the mundane dust is cleansed, the transparent wisdom appears.” After the celebration, fellow initiates all wished: May God’s light always illuminate the world, and may all living creatures on Earth be benefited by eternal peace!
