 From Sri Lank

Dearest beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai,

The initiates of Sri Lanka wish to express our sincere gratitude to You for the devoted service rendered to our country by the Quan Yin family through Your unfathomable love and blessings.

A team of fourteen Formosan brothers and sisters was the first to arrive in Sri Lanka on the second day of its worst ever natural catastrophe, which turned the 2004 Holiday Season into a mass funeral as thirty foot tidal waves triggered by at least fifteen earthquakes devastated the nation’s coastal belt.

A Sir Lankan sister attached to the Stockholm Center in Sweden rushed hurriedly to Sri Lanka to help the Formosa team in their relief work, showing her profound love for the victims. Subsequently, her Swedish initiate husband also joined in the relief work. The team helped to rescue and feed the victims and also provided them with clothing, mattresses, stretchers, medicine, medical equipment, refrigerators, ladies’ sanitary supplies and undergarments, children’s toys, drinking water, mosquito nets, mosquito coils, etc. We all worked in closest harmony, giving each other the most cordial support and creating a spirit of comradeship and generous cooperation. The sisters and brothers distributed both the most needed materials to comfort the victims and also Master’s unconditional love, carrying out the relief work, as if their own flesh and blood had fallen into trouble.

On January 15, 2005, when the Formosan team had successfully completed its mission, another relief team comprised of 31 members, including initiated laypeople and monks arrived in Sri Lanka from Korea with relief supplies such as medical instruments and costly medicine. The Korean workers quickly went to the country’s main southern city of Matara to conduct a post-disaster environmental rehabilitation and relief effort.

Minister, Mrs. Farial Ashroff, and Deputy Minister, Mr. Chandrasiri Gajadeera, of Housing & Construction Industry, warmly welcomed the Korean team. Most of the events surrounding the team’s arrival were telecast over various Sri Lankan TV channels. During this time local residents were touched by the sincere dedication of the Korean relief team members and actively requested information about Supreme Master Ching Hai and the Quan Yin Method. In fact, Mr. Gandajeera and his family learned the Convenient Method.

The activities of both the Formosan and Korean relief teams were not limited to physical and emotional aid; they also brought Master's love and light to the victims. Incidentally, during the relief effort dozens learned the Convenient Method and several of them expressed a desire to be fully initiated.

Besides helping the victims immensely, the teams also uplifted the Sri Lanka Center by contributing a number of Master’s cassettes and DVDs. In addition, financial assistance was provided so that Master's book series The Key of Immediate Enlightenment could be published in Sinhala for the benefit of the Sri Lankan initiates and their compatriots.

Thus the brothers and sisters of Sri Lanka sincerely thank You from the bottom of our hearts for helping us spiritually and physically, and wish you the greatest success and good health in Your mission to save all sentient beings. Please accept our humble obeisance at Your feet.

The fellow initiates of Sri Lanka
