Love in Action

Report from Taipei, Formosa

At a Taipei group meditation session, working staff members unpack packages while initiates collect books for delivery.

Encouraged by the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association, the Taipei Center held a spiritual book contribution activity entitled "Light Up Taipei with Love" on September 4, 2002.

Prior to the event, local initiates conducted a survey to determine the number of libraries in metropolitan Taipei that wished to add Master's books to their collections, and then personally delivered the volumes to each of the libraries. With Master's loving blessing and the initiates' warmhearted participation, the activity received an unexpectedly warm response.

Over the past ten years, Taipei Center initiates have contributed Master's books and videotapes to several libraries in metropolitan Taipei, including the Academia Sinica Library, the Taipei Municipal Library, the Taipei County Library, the National Taiwan University Library, and the National Taiwan Normal University Library. Thus, prior to the "Light Up Taipei with Love" event, over ten local libraries had already obtained Master's publications. Through borrowing books from these libraries, a large number of people have become acquainted with Master's teachings, received initiation and joined the Quan Yin Family.

The "Light Up Taipei with Love" project was the largest of its kind in ten years. More than 200 initiates participated, contributing 10,000 publications to nearly 1,100 recipients spanning all levels of government, including the Office of the President and the five branches of the central government, as well as research institutes, religious groups, hospitals, military institutions and schools, and other public and private libraries.

As Professor Gu Min, director of the Legislative Yuan Library, said of the initiates, "I think that these friends are the real warriors and the real heroes in our society! They devote their time and wisdom to bringing benefits to everyone in this world in terms of spiritual growth and wisdom. They seek no fame or fortune. We should not only encourage them, but also participate in their activities as much as possible. We ask that the government and related groups support their work."

Master once said that Truth-sharing is the highest of all charities. The participating initiates believe that the contribution of Master's publications to Taipei's libraries will create greater opportunities for the public to receive the message of Truth and allow Master's love to illumine the lives of more people, thus bringing them far-reaching benefits!

The "Light Up Taipei with Love" book presentation project receives a warm response from local libraries.
