Spring
drizzle is falling. According to Chinese tradition, this is the time
to go tomb-sweeping and to pay our respects to deceased family members.
My parents treated their parents with a great deal of filial piety.
When my grandparents were alive, they did everything they could to please
them; since my grandparents passed away, they have burnt incense at
their altar at home every day, and have never forgotten to sweep their
tombs each year. My mother often teaches us, "Filial piety to our
forefathers is the first of all virtues." My grandmother did not
live a happy life. After she passed away, I dreamed of her a few times.
In the first dream, we were having a family reunion, while she sat alone,
silent and depressed. Shortly after my initiation, I dreamed of her
again. Unlike the first time, this dream was a happy experience: Grandmother
was sitting with us, pleased and relaxed.
While
taking a nap one bright summer afternoon, I saw grandmother come into
my room with a friend. She stood quietly beside the door, pointing to
me and saying, "She is the one in my family who practices the Quan
Yin Method!" In happy surprise her friend blurted out, "Oh,
it's her!" Just as I was about to get up from the bed, I heard
grandmother say, " Shh... Be quiet! Don't wake her." Thus
I stayed still. Grandmother and her friend were both dressed in white
robes. Grandmother looked very young, as though she were about 30 years
old. Her skin was white and smooth, without any wrinkles. She was just
very relaxed and carefree. Her friend looked at me as though envying
grandmother. She had gone to Heaven because of her personal good deeds,
but her merits will run out and she will still fall. But there will
be no problem for my grandmother, who not only ascended to Heaven easily,
but also will go to higher dimensions to learn spiritual lessons. And
countless blessings are waiting for her. Her friend was full of regret
that she was unable to tell her living relatives to practice the Quan
Yin Method. Having just one of them do so would be enough.
Grandmother
told me that she was going to rise to higher dimensions and would not
return, but she showed no attachment. Only peace and harmony shone from
her face. I knew that the universal power is taking care of her and
was very happy for her. This incident occurred through inner communication,
for which speech was unnecessary. My grandmother and her friend then
vanished from the room and have never returned either to my life or
my dreams.
I
had these dreams many years ago, but they remain fresh in my mind. Tears
fill my eyes when I think of Master's Grace. Master has given so much
to us in both physical and intangible ways, of which worldly people
are unaware, and some of which we disciples do not know either. Master
has said that all the invisible beings can recognize Her, but humans
cannot because they are blinded by their own prejudice. We are very
lucky to have received the Quan Yin Method from a living Master, which
many beings in the universe yearn for. We should cherish this precious
gift, try our best to practice, and live a meaningful life.
