Spiritual Interludes

By sister initiate Zhong Wun-hong from Taipei, Formosa

Over twenty years ago, the West Gate area of Taipei was bustling. Later, especially after the city's Mass Rapid Transit System (MRT) was built, a whole array of stores on Chunghwa Road was torn down. During the period of road construction, it was so crowded and chaotic that cars mixed up with pedestrians, and the road surface looked very terrible and was dangerous to walk on!

Once, I drove to attend a group meditation session in the evening. As my car entered Chunghwa Road, I happened to raise my head and on a billboard saw the blueprint of the road design, which took on a totally different look: Flowers, grass, and trees were in great harmony with each other. Seeing this reminded me that spiritual practice is just like road renovation.

It has been more than ten years since my initiation. When recalling the past, I find that I have been just like a crawling snail, whose progress is slow and awkward. I feel very sorry for Master, and hereby sincerely pray that She will forgive me, and will not forsake me due to my sincerity! She has patiently cleansed my inner garbage, my bad qualities and all kinds of hindrances, which are just like the mess created while the Chunghwa Road was under construction, and has also helped me to go thrillingly through many dangerous obstacles.

I have encountered many subtle traps in the course of my spiritual practice. But fortunately, I have undergone these difficulties with Master's protection and through Her mercy and love. Now my practice is getting so much better that I believe in the near future it will also take on the beautiful blueprint designed and completed by Master. It is just like the Chunghwa Road under construction; I have to bear the mess a little bit longer and there will soon be a wide and beautiful road in my view!
