Letters of Appreciation

from the Red Cross

During the period of the Jewelry Exhibition in Basel, Switzerland in May of this year, the Supreme Master Ching Hai attended a meeting in Geneva with representatives of various charitable organizations. The General Counselor of Albania in Switzerland was also present, and asked for Master's blessings and help for the Kosovo refugees in his country. Master was deeply concerned, and immediately afterwards, through the Red Cross, contributed a sum of US$50,000 for the relief of the refugees in Albania. Later She gave instructions to send another contribution of US$50,000 as needed. Here is the receipt for the second contribution.

Le President
Geneva, 17, August 1999

Dear Mrs. Ching Hai,

I am very pleased and grateful to acknowledge receipt of Your second remittance for USD 50,000, which helps finance the humanitarian activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Balkans.

I would like to thank You for the continued support which You have given us during the past years. It is a reflection of the importance You attach to humanitarian endeavors.

Without the compassion and supportive spirit of its donors, the ICRC would be forced to leave many men, women and children abandoned to the terrors and dreadful consequences of war. With generous help such as Yours, it is able to assume a share of the global responsibility we all have in the face of human suffering.

I thank You again for Your regular generosity, and hope to be able to count on Your support in the future.

Yours Sincerely,
Cornelio Sommaruga
