Aid to Flood Victims in Mainland China

Report from Hong Kong

[Hong Kong] As happened last year, this season, many provinces in mainland China were inundated by floods caused by heavy downpours and the rising Yangtze River. Millions of people were affected, as thousands of acres of farmland were submerged, and countless houses collapsed. Realizing that the suffering victims desperately needed help, Hong Kong initiates organized a two-day overnight meditation session on August 13 and 14 to pray for the victims. They also held a charity dinner and bazaar to raise relief funds. The events drew an enthusiastic response, as fellow practitioners prepared food and offered items for sale. Their loving contributions totaled HK$40,000 (approx. US$5,128), which were given to the relief organization World Vision to purchase food for the flood victims in China.

Receipt from World Vision for the HK$40,000 contribution made by fellow practitioners in Hong Kong to flood victims in China.
