Arid Land Welcomes More Greenery
By Mongolia News Group (Originally in Mongolian)

In yet another dedicated effort to preserve the planet Earth for sustainable living, Association members participated in the “One Person, One Tree” program promoted by the Mongolian government.

For five long weeks starting on April 17, Golden Year 5 (2008), fellow initiates worked in 18 groups, planting more than 50,000 trees around the country. They brought new greenery to the streets of Ulaanbaatar, as well as a local high school and 108 kindergarten schools. Khutul, Erdenet and the Tujiin Nars National Park in Selenge also welcomed the seedlings and trees which were transplanted for the long-term benefit of people.

Inspired by the initiates’ exemplary actions, the beneficiary organizations sent letters of appreciation to our Association, promising to nurture the plants, and many other establishments are following in their footsteps. For example, Montulga Company donated 500 trees which were planted on the premises of Tsakhilgaan Teever Company and a women’s prison. Mongolian University of Science and Technology and Monos Medical Institute students also extended their strong support for this reforestation campaign.

The initiates also sought to promote the Alternative Living message. The Convenient Method of meditation was taught to kindergarten staff members as well as prison staff and inmates. At the prison, everyone enjoyed the delicious vegetarian meal that had been lovingly prepared by the initiates.

For the program to have developed to such a degree, the initiates are deeply grateful to Master for Her generous contribution of US$20,000 that was given in 2006 to plant trees in Zuunsalaa (refer to News Magazine #177 and 184 for details). In addition, this year MNT3,233,644 (US$2,788) was raised for this project and to also to cover other expenses.

Thank you letter from local communities.
