Compassionate Holiday Dinners

By Florida News Group (Originally in English)

The 4th Annual Thanksgiving Potluck

[Florida] On November 18, Golden Year 4 (2007), our Florida Association members went to the Fourth Annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner in Longwood, Florida. This event was organized by the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF) with the purpose of hosting a compassionate Thanksgiving and to promote vegetarianism, a healthy diet and love for animals. Contributions were also collected through the event for Greyhounds Rescue organizations that rescues dogs from the racetracks.

The Healthy Vegan-Tofurky

Our Association members contributed blankets, oil and canned food to the animal friends and displayed Master’s books, The Birds in My Life and The Dogs in My Life, for others to see. All the food served by the participants for the event was vegan, with “Tofurky” as one of the centerpieces, replacing the traditional turkey. Some ARFF members were so impressed with the food prepared by our Association members that they asked for the recipes. Most of the participants had been vegetarian for more than a year. They think being vegetarian and vegan is a much healthier and more compassionate diet. A lady stated that she wanted to give thanks for all of the wonderful things she has and that the animals do not need to suffer for the holidays. We all pray that everyone will soon celebrate all holidays without sacrificing our animal friends.

The 9th Annual Holiday Dinner

On December 8, the Association members again had the pleasure of attending the Ninth Annual Holiday Dinner for Animals organized by ARFF at Garden Café, a vegan restaurant in Orlando, Florida. The atmosphere at the party was lively, with the topics highlighting vegetarianism. The guest speaker, Karen Davis, addressed issues from the mistreatment of farmed animals, especially chickens, to the misunderstanding of “humane” meat. There were raffles throughout the night to raise funds for the United Poultry Concerns. Among the prizes were The Birds in My Life and The Dogs in My Life contributed by our Association members. After dinner, our fellow initiates had the chance to meet with Ms. Karen Davis and interviewed the organizer of the event, Bryan Wilson, who also coordinated the Thanksgiving Dinner in November.
One of the participants
received Master's book.

Through this event, more people will consider changing their diet to vegetarian or vegan. The Association members are grateful to have had an educational opportunity like this one to learn more about our fellow animals. They wish that people’s continuing efforts will yield success and world peace will arrive soon.

A Blissful and Elevating Seminar

By Los Angeles News Group (Originally in English)

[Los Angeles] On December 15, Golden Year 4 (2007), the fellow initiates in Los Angeles held a seminar at the Orange Public Library and Historic Center in southern California to introduce the Quan Yin Method and offer Convenient Method instruction to the public.

After a brief DVD introduction about Master's humanitarian work and Her biography, Her lecture “Face Life with Courage” was played. The audience displayed a sincere interest in Master's words throughout the lecture. They were then invited to try some delicious vegetarian food including spring-rolls,  sandwiches and cookies with Master's aphorisms attached to the top of the packaging. One couple commented: "This food is so yummy. And I like Master's aphorisms as they are very true. This is the food we should consume. We love it!" Another gentleman said: "I wanted to learn to meditate with the Quan Yin Method. It sounds very interesting to me." Most of the guests were given schedules so that they could come to the Los Angeles Center for Convenient Method group meditation in the future.

It was evident to the Los Angeles fellow initiates that more and more people are becoming interested in spirituality, reflecting the continued advancement towards the Golden Age on Earth.
