In the Eastern African country of Ethiopia, many orphans long for love and care. Pastor Henok Megersa has endeavored to answer their needs despite limited financial resources, even selling his second-hand car recently to pay the medical bills of a patient. Through friends in South Africa, he received information about Supreme Master Television. When he learned that Master is a spiritual leader and a philanthropist, he wrote to the television network to seek Her help.

Poverty has forced many families out of their homes onto the streets.

 

Master personally replied to his letter and pledged to contribute US$10,000 to support his efforts. On December 19, Golden Year 4 (2007), fellow initiate from Kenya delivered the fund to Pastor Henok and joined him on a visit to patients under his care. We prayed to God to bless them with an early recovery in body and mind, and elevation in spirit, so that they could soon be discharged from hospital. Doctors said that although there were about 2,000 AIDS patients in their hospital, some of the cases could have been avoided. However, the unavailability of basic education and lack of knowledge led to the repeated occurrence of preventable diseases.

We saw many disabled or homeless children and destitute families on the streets of Addis Ababa, the capital city, which had motivated Pastor Henok to assist and provide them with basic medical knowledge. He committed all available resources to taking care of the orphans and taught them to love God. Over the past three decades, he has helped needy people settle down, raise funds, and build houses. As he was running out of funds, he recently wrote to Master asking for assistance. When help arrived, he repeatedly requested us to convey his heartfelt gratitude to Master, which he also expressed in his letter of appreciation to The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association.

May God bless Pastor Henok in his noble endeavors! We pray that everyone will extend their altruistic love to the needy and the disadvantaged.
