Angel In Prison
(Originally In Korean)
Dear Master
I wish You good health in this new year. I am enjoying this happy moment writing a letter to Master on the first day of this year. I am in jail in Incheon City near Seoul. I am sorry to explain the reason. I am on the trial because the company which I used to run before I got initiation went bankrupt.
I was a designer for 33 years running a designing company and teaching students in universities. I was selected as one of the top 47 graphic designers in the world, being called the 'designer ambassador' even. However, after nineteen years my company went bankrupt, showing that mundane fame is empty.
Many fellow initiates have helped me so much and I feel boundless happiness with Master's blessing. Originally, I was supposed to be sentenced to at least one year imprisonment. However, I will be free very soon because of Master's special blessing and the fellow practitioner's help. Thank You, Master.
I haven't been able to meditate in jail because there are fifteen to sixteen people in this small room -- murderers, robbers and gangsters even. I gave Master's booklets and magazines to them along with the books about reincarnation. Many of them expressed deep interests. A famous movie producer promised to visit the Seoul Center later and another prisoner who had an experience of leaving his physical body expressed deep interest. Most of the prisoners started to believe in reincarnation.
Since I identified myself practicing spiritually as a monk from the beginning, all the prison officers understood my vegetarian diet and some showed interest in it. I learned how to enjoy having meals with only rice and soy sauce.
I received Master's blessing even before initiation. In a big car accident, of all the victims, only I was saved. I fell down from the cliff, it was You who protected me. One time at my university a baseball ball was heading straight for my face curved away at the last minute, grazing only my glasses.
You led me to read many books several months before I got initiation, allowing me to understand more about spiritual practice. And the friend who introduced me to the Quan Yin Method of meditation knew nothing about method. Thank You so much for all these arrangements.
After I get out of jail I am going to practice diligently with my 10-year-old son who wishes to become a little Buddha.
Sincerely,Your disciple
