Spiritual Interludes

Love Needs No Words

Narrated By Siste Initiate Dwan-Mei Chiu, Taoyuan, Formosa
Recorded By Suma News Yen-Shou Chang, Taoyuan Formosa

One day at Raising Center in Cambodia, sister Chiu was weeding a vegetable bed when a local elderly man came and voluntarily helped her. He had a picture of Master on a pin, pinned on his chest. Nevertheless, he made a gesture requesting sister Chiu to give him her pin of Master. (Maybe he wanted it for his family.) Sister Chiu gave him her pin without hesitation. As he received Master's picture, he very, very reverently held it in his palms and placed it on his forehead for a long time. His sincerity moved sister Chiu deeply. Witnessing the sincere action of this man made her realized how fortunate this Lotus Kingdom's countryman is; the Cambodian people are spiritually very rich.

Simple Joy

A local child found a Korean coin on the road and ran over to give it to sister Chiu. To reward his virtuous deed, she gave him and his friends all the blessed food she had brought with her. The children were so happy that they jumped with joy and shouted: "O-cuin! O-cuin!" (Thank you! Thank you!) Children's minds are clear and pure like the sky; everyone loves their innocence and simplicity.
