Reading
the Bible (Luke: 22 verses 39-46), it seems that disciples slept during
meditation 2000 years ago; and it appears that nothing has changed.
Master often jokes about fellow practitioners and disciples 'nodding
off' during meditation, and reminds us to always be aware.
Taking some of His
disciples up Mount Olive shortly before He was betrayed, Jesus asked
His disciples to pray for Him and then went on a little further away
to pray by Himself. When He returned, He found His disciples asleep.
Even in the most important hour of need, they still were not strong
enough to triumph over the mind.
Every time one meditates,
one should always remember that it is oneself who benefits directly
from meditation. The practitioner who meditates diligently will be
calm, compassionate, wise and will have better and better experiences.
Not only will such a practitioner make our planet a better place to
be for all, but such a diligent practitioner will also help to make
Master's work a tiny bit easier. Think about it!
