New Zealand
Eco-Conscious Radio Campaign

By Wellington News Group (Originally in English)

[Wellington] From September to December, Golden Year 7 (2010), a series of 15-30 seconds radio advertisements promoting a plant-based diet were aired through a major New Zealand radio station The Breeze, at peak times to reach hundreds of thousands of listeners nationwide.

These advertisements, written and read by our local Association members, were designed to be concise, personal, and humorous with the aim of raising public awareness of the benefits of switching to a plant-based diet. Topics covered included health, deforestation, and river pollution. At the end of each advertisement, listeners were directed to www.suprememastertv.com/Be-Veg  and www.quitmeat.org.nz for further information.

Initially, the cost for the campaign was almost out of reach. But with God’s grace, the radio station later reduced the fees and with the combined contribution from all five of our New Zealand Centres, our members were able to run the advertisements weekly for 14 weeks with a total of more than 80 airings. The Association members were grateful for being able to reach the mass population through this powerful medium.
