On September 26, Golden Year 6 (2009), on behalf of Supreme Master Ching Hai, our fellow initiates from the Johore Bahru Center presented the Shining World Compassionate Award to Aunty Jia Jia, founder of the H.O.P.E. (Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist), for her compassion and kindness in providing accommodation for homeless dogs. In addition to a signed thank you letter and a few books and DVDs from Master, Aunty Jia Jia also received a contribution of US$10,000 that will fund her expenses in taking care of the dogs. Aunty Jia Jia was very happy to receive this Award and was grateful for Master’s gifts of love.

H.O.P.E. was founded in April 2008 and prior to that, Aunty Jia Jia only fed some homeless dogs on the streets occasionally. One day, a mother dog ran to her doorsteps barking frantically to ask for help, because her puppy had fallen into a gutter, and from then on, her life has changed. Today, the shelter accommodates more than 200 dogs. To expand the shelter, Aunty Jia Jia even sold her house and exhausted all her savings to cover the huge expenditure. She told our initiates that the happiest thing for her is to watch the dogs living happily and freely in the H.O.P.E. shelter, instead of struggling on the streets. The happiness of the dogs provides the greatest source of joy for her!

We are very grateful to Aunty Jia Jia for her compassionate, kind, and generous actions, which will inspire people to adopt a humane lifestyle of respecting all lives.
