God Blesses the Pure-Hearted People

By Belize Relief Team (Originally in Spanish)

Upon learning about the emergency situation in Belize after the flood in the province of El Cayo, our Association members from Costa Rica formed a relief team and arrived in the flood-affected area on October 26, 2008, with a contribution of US$10,000 from Supreme Master Ching Hai.

The flood was the first major emergency situation that Belize has faced since 1978, and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) appreciated the presence of our Association as it was the only international organization offering aid at that time. NEMO kindly informed the team the locations of the most affected villages and the temporary shelters, and advised them to obtain relief supplies that could last for a week due to the difficulty in accessing the affected areas.

In the next two days, the team prepared sufficient supplies and took them to the villages of Calla Creek and Bullet Tree. In Calla Creek, the kindhearted people were extremely grateful to receive the supplies as they had been isolated from the outside world for a week, surviving in poor conditions. They hugged the team members and sent their best wishes to Master. In Bullet Tree, the team members were touched to see some families give their food parcels to others that were in greater need than themselves. One of the villagers expressed his wish for God to give back to Master more than what She had given, so that She could keep helping people in other countries affected by natural disasters.

Throughout the relief work, the team members demonstrated experience, dedication, love and energy in their work, which amazed the NEMO members. The team also took the chance to explain to the local people how the vegetarian diet can effectively counter climate change. Seeing so many existing vegetarian restaurants in the country, the team members felt greatly encouraged. May God continue to bless the noble and pure people in Belize and guide them to live in love and abundance.
