Peter Sterling is a renowned
harp player whose music has given his audiences a glimpse of
the celestial sphere. In 1994 he received the Best String Album
Award from the National Association of Independent Record Distributors
for his “Harp Magic” CD. His album “Harp Dreams”
became number one on the “New Age Reporter” top
100 radio play-list for eight weeks in 2004, making it the most
played New Age CD in North America and Europe at that time.
However, Peter has never received
any formal training in music. His musical journey started in
1989 when he was guided to Sedona, a city in Arizona, USA, by
an inner voice. It was in Sedona that Peter became a vegetarian
and spent three years on a “vision quest,” where
he let go of all his personal possessions. He prayed to the
Great Spirit to reveal his life purpose as he wanted to be part
of the positive influence on the planetary awakening at this
time. He went into a deep meditative state and in that state,
Peter revealed, “I started to hear very subtle strains
of music all of a sudden; I heard this most beautiful music
… But then I realized it was coming from within ... So
I just went with it, and this music took me on a journey.”
One day he was lifted out of
the body by the music and came to a place full of light, bliss
and ecstasy, where he saw angels around him singing, playing
harps, flutes and violins. He realized that the incredible music
came from them. He had a telepathic connection with these angelic
beings, and so they began to communicate a lot of information
to him. The angels told him that his mission was to be a channel
for the celestial and heavenly music that he was hearing, and
that he would do this through playing the harp. “They
said this celestial music is like a clarion call, like Gabriel
blowing his trumpet, which is calling all the souls home. It’s
like a shifting of the ages. And it’s like that’s
what this music is. It’s waking people up to see a bigger
vision.”
One week after this experience,
Peter found the Celtic harp he was destined to play through
an encounter with a harpist in Sedona. As soon as he started
strumming the harp, the angels sang to him. Their energy would
envelop him and guide his hands on the strings. “This
is kind of how it started, with these simple little arpeggiated
chords. And then it just grew into songs within a matter of
weeks. Distinct melodies started coming through. And after 10
months of playing the harp, just self-taught, the angels said,
“It’s time to make a recording.”
In a small recording studio
in Sedona, Peter made his first tape. “It was such an
intense experience that my hands would tremble and my eyes would
tear profusely. And it was very high frequency energy.”
He made 50 copies of the recording on cassette tapes, then just
shared them with people around Sedona, many of whom responded
to this music. He also gave some to the New Age bookstores in
town, where the owners started selling them.
However, when the angels told
Peter that his music was to go out all over the world, he had
no idea how to do this, so he prayed for help. Soon after, he
was contacted by record company executives who heard this beautiful
music in a bookstore while holidaying in Sedona. After hearing
Peter’s story, they decided to help get the music out
to the world and offered him a record deal with worldwide distribution.
His music was released in Japan, South America and Canada, and
just three months later, his CD was nominated for the best string
album of the year. Peter said, “This goes to show how
quickly the angels can help you.” “Ask and you shall
receive. Knock and the door shall be opened.” Since then
he has performed in many places, in Australia, on the Jay Leno
Show, and most recently in the ancient temples of Egypt.
